  • I think it'll help protect druid against aggro, but dunno about other decks.

  • Works fine in deathrattle demon hunter, too bad that archetype sucks

  • can be played in a aggro heavy meta, other than that, this dont have much use. like rotten applebaum

  • Extra life in Deathrattle DH.

  • Standard DH support.

  • About the same strength as Hot Spring Guardian. Would this be playable today? Barely, but as a neutral this could work in druid and warrior.

  • Actually a quite good bumper against aggro decks

  • Probably one of the best defensive cards they ever made. You can play it for tempo early and it'S fantastic at stalling early on. The small size makes it also far less likely to be hard removed.

Only issue is when you play this while not having been damaged vs midrange decks, but that's probably not a big concern.

  • Very good antiaggro and arena card

  • I think this could be played as a decent anti aggro 3 drop. It could just as easily be too unimpactful though.

  • AMAZING card, will see play in a lot of control decks!

  • good card

  • Yeah, seems okay. Not too convinced about it somehow.

  • nice survavibility tool

  • Seems very good for taunt druid.

  • 3 mana 2/4 taunts with heals always saw play

  • Anti-aggro? I'm in :D

  • DR time???

  • Good for anti aggro decks!

I wouldn't call this the best defensive card they've ever made. It blocks 8 damage for 3 mana. Granted, a taunt minion is different then just gaining armor. But this isn't that much better than something like Hot Spring Guardian or Deathlord or the new Feral Spirit. It is a good card, but I am not convinced it is as powerful as some people are making out.

Alright maybe I'm overexaggerating, but in terms of recent years this is very good seeing how cautious they have been about neutral healing options.

  • thats awesome, aggro killer- almost-

  • Neutral taunt with healing? Wow, this card alone will encourage those control decks to pop up. Very nice defensive tool in any class wanting to go late game.

  • Excelent against aggro!!

  • Nice

  • Seems good for budget control decks (if that is even a thing) :D

  • good

  • Similar to Hot Spring Guardian, but a little worse. Could be good in slow decks to survive more against aggro. I like it better in most scenarios than Lone Champion. Maybe it's good enough to see play.

  • Good, but not incredible

  • I like those for my meme-y Rogue and Hunter decks :) Very nice card.

  • Both good early game card to protect your agressive minions, and a good control card to heal up a bit and protect your face. Love the design.

  • Good defensive tool for deck that needs it, but you need to be kinda desperate to add this.

  • Priest quest fulfillment

  • This could find its place in Control decks. Early game Taunt, health restore. Stats are not bad.

  • Great defensive tool, DH could probably use it in new deathrattle based decks.

  • Solid defensive option, and can be good with Razorboar, although I don't anticipate Deathrattle DH to be good as much as it will be just a package.

Rotten Applebaum wouldn't be playable nowadays, although it was back then. So, rate by association?

  • anti aggro card all around and a good one.

  • more DR support

  • Kinda like armor vendor: someone plays this against me and methinks, "you gonna lose."

  • Reminds me of the Golden shower elemental.

For priest is a solid card, maybe in wild with N'zoth.

    And in... DR DH?

  • Pretty darned good for a neutral deathrattle. May even see play outside deathrattle-focused decks.

  • A reprint of Hot Spring Guardian. Saw some play, but wasn't great then. Also isn't great now.

  • Khartut saw play and this faster. Good antiaggro

  • Decent anti-aggro tool.

  • not bad! basic but solid

  • Mhe .. not the deathrattle I expected ...
But the deathrattle we got, nonetheless

  • very great anti aggro tool!

  • Think this card has potential - deathrattle, taunt with health gain seems a good solid placement in control decks.

    • Agreed !

    • Agreed !

  • Great card against aggro doesnt get better then taunt with healing effects

  • Rotten Applebaum 2.0

  • New Armor dealer. Nice against aggro. Should be 2/5 to be really good

  • Anti-aggro tool, as such can totally see this being played in a number of decks. Meta-dependend though

  • Another reprint....

  • Love it

    • Kinda bad

  • Good when discovered, not worth its own deck slot though.

  • awesome control card

  • Ok Card  - Deathrattle Demon Hunter or maybe even Priest?

  • Decent value, good for early survival. Could see play.

  • Meh. Too much healing already,

  • A decent taunt

  • One of the standout survival tool against aggro.

But its low attack means its basically only relevant against aggro and little else. I still rate this highly, but only because it kinda more or less guarantees at least 2 health and blocking one attack. Most taunts can't even manage one of those, let alone 2.

  • I used to play Hot Spring Guardian. Not stellar, but it does its job reliably.

Plus, Rotten Applebaum, Khartut Defender, etc. all saw play, and this is the same but cheaper! I'm confident we'll see this guy a lot.

  • Don't think deathrattle dh want's to play defensively but i guess good anti aggro card and great for arena too.

  • The art, effect, and cost suggest that this belongs in Deathrattle DH, where it might find a brief home if that archetype ends up working out (here's hoping). It's not terrible, but I can't see this card having too much of an impact on the meta or being an auto-inclusion.

I like, good defensive tool against aggro.

  • good

  • Ridiculously strong anti-aggro tool. The 2 damage probably isn't enough to kill much of the enemy board, but the healing and taunt will stave off aggro long enough to clean up with an AOE

  • An awesome anti-aggro card, but will only see play in aggro metas probably, where it can thrive.

  • Good card.  Not overpowered, could find a place in a number of decks.

  • Nice to counter aggro decks, and maybe nice in taunt decks even if thats not the big taunt you want to copy in druid or warrior.

  • It's ok in demon hunter, but at what point that 4 health will matter turn 3

  • Maybe it works on wild with the Un'Goro quest Priest

  • I can't believe that all the deathrattle minions are neutral instead of DH that's so unfair for the other classes

  • Could be good

  • Good antiagro card since it can stall the board in the first turn of the game. If the meta will be made-up of agro deck, this card will shine

  • Good against aggro, great in Arena imo.

  • Seems like a decent include in Death Speaker Blackthorn or Plaguemaw the Rotting decks.

  • I'm not as convinced as a lot of other people seem to be, maybe because this trades poorly with a lot of 3-drops and it could end up being just a minor inconvenience to aggro decks. Maybe it'll turn out to be enough to survive until your late game AoEs and stuff, but I think it's currently overrated.

  • This is pretty good many archetypes could make use if it.

  • Pretty strong considering both the stats and the Deathrattle, might see some play

  • Good versus agro decks. Taunt makes that card more valuable

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

Pretty decent. Body is okay and the health gain is too.

    • Very good at enabling slower decks to survive aggression, very excited for this card.

  • Solid card with a solid effect. I think it sees play, especially since it is a neutral card. There will be many decks wanting to stall out the early game to get to more impactful cards.

  • suitable for control warlock

  • Hot Spring Guardian didn't see play, but that's because it was a shaman card and shamans can already heal. Value rogues and hunters could however appreciate the stalling effect Death's Head Cultist until their decks take off.

  • Taunt nd heals, I like👍

  • For a cult called "Death's Head", surprisingly doesn't want you to die. Solid anti-aggro card, and comes down sooner than something like Khartut Defender or Rotten Applebaum.

  • I reckon this will find it's way into a few lock decks to be honest.

  • Anti-aggro tech card.

Might see play in an aggro meta.

  • Solid

  • good card

  • Decent DR taunt that can slot into a couple of decks. I think this one will see play in several places.

  • every year needs a new sludge belcher I guess

  • AnonymousUser's Avatar

A cheaper version of Applebaum isn't necessarily as good, however it's still great for a Neutral. Maybe not amazing, but it'll be decent imo.

  • Another bad body with bad effect.

  • Great addition to Standard as an anti-aggro option for classes that struggle with that. I guess we could also see this in DR Demon Hunter... not that I expect that deck to take off.

  • I hope this works in demonhunter

  • Might take away some of the pain from Darkspear Berserker. Too bad the costs of this and that aren't reversed.

  • Anti-aggro at its finest.  Face hunters won't be quaking in their boots, but it's still a decent setback.

  • Works both in taunt and deathrattle decks.

  • Very good cheap taunt. Will get a lot of use.

  • This gives you the same healing as Rotten Applebaum but on a cheaper body that's easier to fit into a turn and has more efficient stats. Warlock loves the cheap healing and defensive nature of Death's Head Cultist, and I could easily see this becoming a defensive staple across control decks like Tar Creeper of old.
