So there is a lot of weaving going on in Priest lately with the Veilweaver-bloodweaver-Rally combo that generates tons of spells and discounts them.
It sure can be pretty fun to generate spells and sling those cards with multiple weavers on the board but I see the same "misplay" again and again.

Do you guys agree that playing a Renew with a single veilweaver only to generate a random card is a misplay? You essentially trade a card, you consciously put in your deck for a random one. Seems like a bad deal to me.

    There are obviously exceptions:

    - Multiple veilweavers
    - Desperation for a clear
    - Lots of spare mana with a light hand

But i've seen way to many priests throw away their renews for the sake of a random card.

I'm not sure we'd be talking about the same type of situation.

I can play sethekk + renew early against more agressive opponent. My reasons usually are to establish some presence and slow down opponent, and to discover some board control options I already know I would need.

It would not be about gaining a random card. It would be about throwing away part of the combo early to gain more staying power. Against aggro it might not even get to my combo - I'll just exhaust their hand and they'll give up.

You want to play Sethekk + Renew if you have enough mana to get a train going because it gives you a discover and a random spell which could chain.

You don't wanna Renew Sethekk if you actually need healing in the matchup.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter anyways because you're playing Miracle Priest and you're relying on just out-randoming your opponent.

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

Depends what you're trying to accomplish. If youre facing down a tempo or burn deck then Renew for 3 health to your face is likely more important than a random spell. If your face isn't in any immediate danger, then why not? Random spells in miracle priest is pretty much the game plan, its not like it has any other real win condition.

Against Aggro/tempo/burn: i'll only target Sethekk Veilweaver with Renew either when i'm already ahead and want to generate some clears, or when i can tell that my opponent probably has a bad hand. (Can easely tell that if my opponent has a bad turn 1-3.)

Against Control/slow decks/mirrors: I'll do that when i want to try start a chain, considering healing health with Renew isn't as important in this matchup. (And if i have the mana to start a chain of course.)

Against OTK: When i'm 100% sure my opponent is an OTK deck, and i don't have Mindrender Illucia ready/in hand, i'll 100% cast Renew on Sethekk Veilweaver whenever i can, in order to try to find some kind of spell that can help me survive.

well that were pretty much all the scenario's where i personally cast Renew on Sethekk Veilweaver. (Some of which you already mentioned, like "- Despirate for a clear")

Personally i don't think casting Renew on Sethekk Veilweaver is a misplay... most of the time. Sure you "trade a card you put into your deck for a random one" but Renew also discovers a card, so the random card from Sethekk Veilweaver can rather be seen as a "extra chance" to get something you want IF your discover was bad. Perhabs those priests you have been facing were despirately looking for boardclears or buff spells for Sethekk Veilweaver? (In my experience, Sethekk Veilweaver loves only giving AOE spells, and almost no buff spells..)

The only real situation where i think this is a misplay is when your casting Renew on Sethekk Veilweaver on turn 3 against a FACE Hunter or Token Druid that have a full board of minions ready to target your FACE. (In that case they should have healed face and prayed for Condemn (Rank 1), or Holy Nova if they survive to turn 4...)

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
