do i just craft the mushroom cloud deck?  that seems to always win.  is that any good?  i dont think it's my play style but i am running out of patience.  I will play anything that can actually win and not require lucky topdecks.

Good god no, man!  Not sure if you mean a Teemo 'shroom deck or an Ezreal 'shroom deck, but either way: those aren't good decks.

Did you not have luck with Noxus / P&Z burn?  That should DESTROY both the aforementioned--for Teemo, you snipe him with Mystic Shot while applying your own pressure, for Ezrael, you just apply too much damage before he can even level up.  I am usually 50:50 with this deck at Gold using an unrefined list, so you should have no trouble at bronze.

Here's a more refined list from Swim than the one I listed earlier, but honestly you don't even need to craft this.  I'd say the Boomcrew Rookie, Legion Rearguard, and Precious Pet are all critical; everything else is "what's cheap and deals fast damage?"  If you're still having trouble after that, try watching a few streamers on Youtube.

I suppose what is most tricky for me is the mulligan - for instance, I'm unsure when to keep/mull Mystic Shot.

Again: watching streamers is great for this stuff.

In general: you want early minion damage.  The 3 critical cards I mentioned are all great early-game drops.  Pay attention to whether you're attacking on odds or evens because that affects which cards you want to keep.  I think you only want to keep the Mystic Shot to answer an early Teemo or Zed; most of the time, you'll rather have a unit which can attack face a few times and use Mystic Shot / Get Excited! on your last turn to hit face.  The biggest decision is when to open attack versus when to play additional units: you need to do the math to see what happens if you attack as-is, and then guess what will change if you play another unit but give them a chance to play a blocker.  Sometimes that risk is worth the potential reward of playing an additional attacker; sometimes its not.

    Good luck!

kaladin my man, if you can craft the mistwraith damacia shadow isles fearsome deck. it was a cancer deck along with elusives pre nerf and now its back again with a different region (damacia, before was ionia) along with elusive decks aswel. check out this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYT3BDpiXzE

you can see in that video description links to his twitch and website where he writes about the tiers of the meta.

overall this game is very well balanced, and altho it can attract some portion of HS players the actual game is quite different. top decks is a thing of all card games, and we have been on the bad end practically as much as on the good end of top decking. problem is some ppl like you are very impressionable which means u are gonna notice a lot more times when u are being dicked by rng than when being helped by it.

the other explanation would be that u are very unlucky. just dont play bad decks and then say ur opponent got good draws. in LoR drawing 2 cards per "turn" makes the top decks more probable specially when they run consistent good decks. oh and by now, ppl have the collection to get a good deck even in bronze. some ppl just spent way too much time on expeditions and unranked just to farm cards and enter rank mode kinda of late, so expect decent decks despite the bronze rank

If you want to get better at this game:

    1) Watch some streamers, like swim (my personal favourite). You'll be surprised, like me, how many mistakes you make when playing this game, especially with "hard" decks. Btw, swim also has a website with some decks: https://www.swimstrim.com/

    2) Don't play when tilted. When I see my opponent is drawing nuts, answering my every play... Just stop, get some drink, relax. Playing in this state will only make you whine on the internet about some "broken decks that "insert something"".

    3) Most important: enjoy this game.

Also, try to craft decks that use cards you already have. You'll save yourself a lot of pain later. And don't craft teemo :p

    Hope I helped a bit ;)

    Less thinking, more pew-pewing!

Judging by the interactions in this thread, it really does seem like you haven't fully appreciated the subtle -- but extremely important -- differences between this and other card games. My advice would be to watch a streamer, pause frequently to try to predict their plays, and take note when and why you are wrong.

Most of the time when they do something you didn't expect, it is not just a difference of opinion. And because you have experience with other games, I'm willing to bet your errors have little to do with general fundamentals and everything to do with the many unique aspects of Runeterra.

That's all I'm saying.  Runeterra isn't a completely different game with completely different strategies.  I didn't realize it would be such a controversial topic to ask for a decent low level deck.  My apologies.

but thank you for the obvious recommendation.

There may be some confusion about what you mean by "low level." Were you looking for a budget deck, or something that is simple to pilot?

I assume you know how to search for budget decks.

For easier decks to get some practice with the game, try the Fearsome aggro list or maybe Ephemerals. Good Champions for getting your feet wet are Elise and Zed. Also, any Hecarim deck is going to be a powerhouse, and he's pretty straightforward if you don't immediately try to dive in with his combo deck.

Yasuo is one of the worst Champions for new players, as he is a) actually pretty mediocre, and b) fairly difficult to use well.

Kalaind, budget problems aside, i say if u can play the rally fearsome deck. its on swimstrim website already provided by Elendil. its on the Decks and Meta tab. if u cant have  60% win ratio with that deck on bronze then we might have a problem. that deck is very good and synergizes very well with Hecarim which btw is busted as hell and likely to be nerfed.

I know how to search for decks but I haven't been on this site in a while and being that I'm unfamiliar with what's good in Runeterra...and having already crafted a front page deck but doing poorly with it....figured it would be good to go ahead and ask the community.  I may have been wrong.

I've more recently been doing okay with a Jinx aggro/face deck.  currently at Silver 4.

What do you think of Ashe/Frostbite decks?  I've been playing around with my own build in casual and it's been quite fun.

the frostbite noxus deck is very fun to play but sadly not very top tier. u can roll some wins with it but gets trashed by late greedy decks, and specially the fearsome decks with top end cards like harrowing, elusives if they get the right buffed units and late harrowing rekindler decks that abuse Hecarim like no tomorrow

so....mindless aggro or nothing?  Kinda seems like I either need to play mindless aggro or......uninstall the game.

I would argue that no deck in Runeterra is mindless--even aggro decks need to weigh what to mulligan, when to open attack, when to trade, how much to hedge against board wipes, etc.

And if you want to try a control deck then by all means go for it--the most successful decks on ladder right now are either Karma + Demacia(Lux)/P&Z(Heimer)/SI or Frej+SI Warmothers Calling.  I just suspect you're going to find those decks even more frustrating than the aggro decks.

I'll give those a look.  Why would you suspect that?  I have always been more a fan of control decks.  Even in my Hearthstone days I pretty much always laddered with slow/control decks.

Because your previous comments led me to assume you're having difficulties piloting the aggro and Yasuo decks, and these decks will be more complicated.  If I am underestimating your abilities, I apologize.

    Example Karma + Lux : https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/bpe2oul0ofdd203qh5r0
