The PlayStation Plus Games Lineup Is Here: NFS Heat, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Deathloop, Sly Cooper, and More Added to the Service

We have the PS Plus games for September, and it’s a big one! Essential players get 3 new games, Extra players get 11, and Premium players get 8. That’s a total of 22 new games, assuming you pay for the highest tier of the subscription.

This is also the last chance you have to get the games from August before they go away. Even if you’re subscribed to the higher tiers, claim those games! You’ll still own them even when your subscription runs out, so you’ll still be able to play them.

Any games in the Essential tier are also available to those in the Extra tier, which in turn are available to those in the Premium tier. If you want to know how PS Plus stacks up to Xbox’s Game Pass, you can check out our dedicated article. Without further ado, let’s get into the games!

Essential Games

All 3 games will be available starting on September 6th.

Need for Speed: Heat (PS4)

The latest entry in the popular racing game, Need for Speed: Heat sees you driving in sanctioned races during the day while taking part in illegal races at night.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus (PS4)

Granblue Fantasy is a mobile MMORPG developed by Cygames. It is a fighting game spin-off developed by Arc System Works, known for the Guilty Gear and BalzBlue series of fighters, as well as the wildly popular Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Toem (PS5)

Rounding up the Essentials list is Toem, a cute black-and-white 2D game where you go around the world and take photos of the scenery, while helping the people with their problems.

Extra Games

All the games here will be available starting September 20th.

Deathloop (PS5)

Well, this is awkward. Deathloop is a First Person Shooter where you’re stuck in a time-loop until you kill all the key characters on the Island of Blackreef. The game was also developed by Arkane Studios, who is now owned by Microsoft, who also own Xbox. As such, it’s a bit of a surprise to see it here, though we’re not complaining.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins (PS4)

Marking a sort of soft reboot for the series, the aptly named Origins takes players to ancient Egypt, where they’ll ride on camel-back, upgrade their equipment and hone their skills to assassinate more dangerous enemies, as well as die of heatstroke (the last one isn’t a game mechanic).

Watch Dogs 2 (PS4)

Taking a detour from the more serious tone of the original game, Watch Dogs 2 puts players in the shoes of Marcus Hollowway, a young hacker who uses his skills to turn the San Francisco Bay Area into his playground.

Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show (PS4)

Uhm, anyone wants to watch some TV? Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show is a collection of 20 episodes from the Rabbids Invasion cartoon, but with some minigames sprinkled throughout, letting you interact with the episodes themselves.

Rayman Legends (PS4)

The last hurrah of the titular Rayman before his series was taken over by the aforementioned Rabbids. Platform your way trough a series of stages with various themes, and end each stage with a runner level set to parodies of popular songs where the rhythm aligns with your movements.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition (PS4)

What was considered to be lost media due to licensing rights, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a loose adaptation of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels. The game is a side-scrolling beat-em-up, where you must defeat your girlfriend’s evil ex-boyfriends.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (PS4)

A mashup between a brawler and an action RPG, this game sees you go through various iconic Dragon Ball moments, reliving those moments as your favorite yellow-haired character.

Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition (PS4)

Charon, the ferryman of the dead, has retired, and he’s passed down his mantle to you. Journey across a colorful world, and meet a large cast of interesting characters, while helping them solve their problems in the previous life so they can pass into the next.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale (PS4)

The world has lost all color, and it’s up to you to paint it back! Get your magical brush ready and travel the world, all the while painting and trying to figure out why everything is black-and-white in the first place.

Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 5 (PS4, PS5)

The latest installment in the yearly motorcross series that started in 2018. Race across various officially licensed tracks in the North American region using a large selection of motorcycles.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX (PS4, PS5)

A remastered version of the original 1987 game, complete with beautiful pixel-art sprites and remastered music. DX also contains new levels that expand the story of the original, as well as the ability to switch between the new assets and the Genesis ones with the press of a button.

Premium Games (PS3)

All the games here will be available starting September 20th. PS3 games can only be played via streaming instead of directly on the console. Some of these games benefit from up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters.

The Sly Cooper Games

Good news: The Sly Cooper Collection is coming to the service after being removed from PS Now. Bad news: It’s the PS3 collection, so you have to stream it to play it. The Sly Cooper games are Stealth games where you play as a Racoon on a quest to steal stuff and twart a giant steampunk mechanical owl.

The Collection includes the first 3 games in the series, but the 4th game, Thieves in Time, is also coming to the service at the same time. Bentley’s Hackpack, a collection of minigames related to the series, will also be added.

Syphon Filter 2 (PS1)

A third person shooter with thriller from the days of the original PlayStation. The story… contains massive spoilers for the first game, which is already on the service, so play that before this one gets added.

Toy Story 3 (PSP)

An adaptation of the beloved Pixar movie that ended a great trilogy. Play as a variety of characters, both in the real virtual world, and as part of scenarios that fit the toys.

Kingdom of Paradise (PSP)

Kingdom of Paradise, known as Key of Heaven in Europe, is a Japanese action RPG set in a fantasy world inspired by feudal China. The game has a heavy focus on martial arts combat, and the player will raise different attributes upon leveling up, depending on how they fight.
