HOSTLIGHT is releasing today! The game is available for purchase on Steam and to celebrate the launch it’s currently 20% off, coming in at £9.11 (price may vary based on your region).
The puzzle game has you exploring a mysterious tower and completing the puzzles contained within using light & shadow. Mix & match colors, use mirrors to direct light beams and topple columns to create a chain reaction.
You won’t be alone on your journey, as robot companion The Guide will help you out as well as fill you in on some story (who are The Builders?). At this point I reckon “puzzle game + robot narrator” is pretty much a genre in and of itself, so this could be a hit for fans of Portal who’ve been craving a game with a similar feel.
The game was developed by ESDIP_GAMES (an art school in Madrid!) and published by SelectaPlay.

The Portal Collection
Portal 1 and 2 are first-person puzzle games developed by Valve and initially released on Steam. It has won countless awards for its amazing puzzle design. As the name suggests, you have to use portals to transport a cube from point A to point B in order to advance to the next section, where another puzzle awaits you. Your gun allows you to create a two-doorway portal through which you can move the cube across rooms and obstacles.
If you think going from room to room, moving a box around and completing puzzles can get real boring real fast, think again. The puzzles are so varied you’re never going to extinguish your drive to complete them, and the story and characters provide some much-needed comic relief to douse your growing frustration when the cube just won’t listen to you.
You can buy your copy of these two all-time greats on the Nintendo store. Will you be picking these up again for your Switch? Let us know in the comments below!
