What Are You Playing? - Junoesque July 2026

That's a word I bet you probably didn't know. I found it while looking for a J adjective, and it describes the beauty of a woman with a figure resembling the Roman goddess Juno.

For this month, not much has changed. But at the end of last month's thread, I mentioned becoming more of a Stardewer by the second. I'm currently on the degenerate strategy of crafting 99 staircases to get to level 100 of Skull Cavern. On the topic of Stardew, I've been seeing some friends of mine playing Sun Haven, which I know is another farming game, although it seems that the game has come under some controversy due to the creator's lack of payment towards the artists.

I haven't played my PS5 in like months. Hopefully I get back to it.

This month is also my birthday month, and it happens to be during the Steam sale too! I love my birthday so much. It and Christmas are almost exactly 6 months apart from each other, so I get a celebration every half year.

I got gifted Meccha Chameleon early, and I'm really excited to finally play it with the friends.

  • Just finished Breath of the Wild. I totally get why it got amazing praise at the time of release, it's an incredible game. Bosses were quite easy, though. Everyone has said how disappointing Gannon is, and he is, especially with and Ancient Shield equipped, but even Thunderblight, which people made sound like an absolute monster to fight, was trivial with a 2* Rubber Set. Meanwhile, I've avoided Lynels like the plague, lol. And some UI elements, like hearts and enemy health, are really hard to see at times.

    I'm considering the DLC and TotK, but for now I'll just put the game down for a bit.

  • After flitting about between games trying to nail down something that'll spark interest and accumulate some miles, I found Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Someone recommended it because I enjoy Monster Hunter, I played the demo, and now I'm hooked.

    It does play like Monster Hunter a bit, but instead of individual weapon loadouts you have unique characters who themselves have different abilities and attacks. I'm still learning the game, playing through the story, so I haven't yet found the right character for me: "Vane" sounds the most appealing, being similar to the Lance from MH Wilds (slow DPS but sticks to the boss like glue, very tanky, and can shield allies and draw aggro). However, I hear his DPS is quite lacking, so outside of his defensive abilities he's not contributing to the fight as much as you'd want: better to find someone who can aid the team and kill the boss in a timely manner.

    In the early game/story you only have one or two character tickets to utilize, so picking the "right" character from the 25 or so that exist is quite important. I can eventually acquire them all, but if I don't want to slog through with the starting team (or worse, a recruited character I don't like), I have to choose correctly.

    An expansion for the game drops in four days, too, so that's exciting. As far as I can tell it's a free add-on, which is a very nice bonus for someone who just started playing.

  • Why subject yourself to that for an achievement?

    I used to be like that, so I totally get it - I would go to any length for the 100%/Platinum. But eventually I had to step back and realize it's literally a waste of time to do certain bullshit for a little JPEG. I still go for achievements and objectives that are reasonable, but I wouldn't grind doing the same course over and over for 12 hours.

  • The 18th was the birthday of a really great friend of mine. I got her Crypt of the Necrodancer and Rift of the Necrodancer. Only "Rift" was on her wishlist, but it was cheaper to buy the bundle with both games than it was to buy Rift by itself. Aren't Steam sales weird? Another such gift, to advertise another game I've reviewed... Dungeons of Hinterberg. And I'm really excited to know what she thinks of that game, because it's really good.

    I'm at the point where I'm at the worst grind of my life. There's an achievement in Super Woden GP to drive 5000 kilometers. When I finished every event in the game, which took 12.5 hours, I was only at 1505 kilometers.

    The fastest track in the game, Firewheel Ring, takes an average of about 34 seconds per lap to cover 2.6 kilometers. If my math is close enough, it'll take about 12 hours to completely cover the remaining 3495 kilometers (also factoring in things like loading times between menus, and the occasional "biffed" lap).

    The Train fest has also started, and even though I haven't actually bought anything from it yet, I know that I'll want to.

  • That's wild that you've only just finished it! Quite an awesome game but yeah I do agree, it's easy. All Zelda titles have been fairly "easy" though so I'm okay with it. I don't want dark souls Zelda haha.

  • I don't normally play top-down racers, but this is a good one.

    It's basically if someone tried to make top-down Gran Turismo, and it's really fun.

    I've already reviewed the Rally Edge game. I got the first two games on sale, and the developers recently announced Super Woden GP 3, and in a very huge diversion from the previous games, will use a regular chase camera instead of the top-down view that the series has been known for so far.

    And just like Easy Delivery Co, I've never played a game that was both cozy and terrifying at the same time.

  • I got some more headhunting in last night and wowowow. Pretty awesome time. I had a few dozen buffs up at once and was walking around like an absolute god.

    My biggest hurdle now with my comet build is I just need more crit damage bonus and most importantly, I need to get a few more gem levels out of my necklace... which is easier said than done.

  • I picked up Headhunter in Path of Exile 2 which has been a long-term goal of mine in Path of Exile since I started playing it many years ago. I never achieved it because I'd typically quit playing for a season before then, or you know, my build was nowhere near ready for a Hunterhunter haha.

    Headhunter, for those not in the know, is one of those items which isn't really vital but instead it's the cherry on top. Once your other gear is great, chasing a Headhunter (or a Mageblood if you really want to ball out) gives you the ability to steal power from enemies. When you kill a Rare or Unique enemy, you are temporarily infused with their abilities.

    Which provides some hilarious results at times because if you collect enough heads, your entire screen if it wasn't already spammed with skills, now it certainly is and you can't even be sure if they're yours or enemies.

    It's been fun to finally achieve that goal though and feel the power for myself. Next... Mageblood? haha

  • I didn't pick up anything from the sale this time around, but looks like you've got some good gems, Demon. My game time is going to be invested in Path of Exile for the next while haha

  • What did you all buy from the Steam sale?

    Easy Delivery Co. is the one I mentioned before. You're an anthropomorphic cat who works as a delivery driver along the snow mountain roads. It's somehow both cozy and slightly terrifying.

    Up next are both of the Railway Empire games, and from what I can gather, it really is just Railroad Tycoon 2 or 3 with better graphics, and I already really like both of those games. If it satisfies the ability for me to build trains, I will take it.

    Additionally, I ended up buying Transport Fever 2, which is basically OpenTTD but with modern graphics and now I own both games.

    I also bought the first two Super Woden games because I really loved the Rally spin-off in spite of its short length.

    With a friend's birthday being on next week, I also did some gift buying.

  • I've been swapping back and forth between the main game and the demo lol: the demo has more characters unlocked, so I can test them out before I purchase one in the main game. Not everyone I wanted to try is available, unfortunately, and the base story is stingy with character cards, so I risked it all on Zeta: the dragoon spear-wielding lady who attacks with aerial combos. Usually I'm a shieldmaiden - pulling aggro, protecting the team, and laughing off damage as the tank - but I wanted to play a DPS and she seemed the most fun lol.

  • Two really great friends of mine gifted me some Steam games for my birthday.

    It's this sort of truck delivery management game on snowy mountains, coupled with PS1-style graphics. The atmosphere in the game is really great.

    I also got gifted Dredge, and the two Railway Empire games.

    And I fully completed EA Sports WRC, so that's 112GB of free space on my computer now available. In due time, I'll probably put that 100GB back into another super-large game on my PC like Dirt Rally 2.0 or Red Dead Redemption 2. I definitely need to get a new computer.

    One of the friends in question also has her birthday in just a week and a half away, and I've already bought the gift games for the occasion. It's great when you have a friend with a birthday close to yours to take advantage of Steam sales.

  • I love when there are content updates just around the corner when you get into a new-to-you game, especially free ones. Getting to experience new stuff right away with everyone else makes it interesting from that community side of things. It's great to hear it's been going good - I saw you on Steam playing it a decent chunk haha

  • No me thinking it said "June Jenesaisquoi" (like "je ne sais quoi", but one word).

    Anyway, I started a new play through of Breath of the Wild. I dropped the game back in 2023 because it didn't click with me, and I'm happy to report it's going a lot better now.

    I also started getting back into VR, mainly short sessions of Syth Riders and Pistol Whip.
