Welcome to The Minuscule Realm! After casting a spell from a scroll he just looted somewhere, Reno Jackson found himself shrinking little by little until becoming the size of an ant. Now, the reckless explorer will have to deal with swarms of insects his size, colossal birds that could eat him in a single peck and, worst of all, the backwards society of the Mycropian fairies.

Creatures of this scale are used to being dwarfed by everything around them. But, no matter the size, life is resilient, so they've found strategies to fight back when they feel Undersized.

(Undersized can be triggered both by you and your opponent, so it can also work as a disruptive tool)

Of course, this isn't the only survival strategy employed by these tiny creatures. Some of them will also Gather resources to survive the harsh winter, while others will Metamorph and flourish into powerful Imagos.

Some insects will also form colonies, developing an Eusocial behaviour. These archetypes are defined by their Queens, who will trigger a powerful effect if you've summoned enough of their offspring.

And finally, this expansion will also bring back Colossal. However, instead of humongous sea monsters, the creatures featured this time will be house cats, birds and even gnomes. After all, they are just as scary when you're a tiny Mycropian.

 

 

As a little twist, some of the new Colossal will feature different appendages.

Death Knight

Once upon a time, there was a sorceress in Oberon's court whose power made the king of the fairies afraid. With the excuse of her being a user of Shadow magic, she was cast away to the deepest part of the Rotten Forest, a place inhabited by all kinds of horrifying spiders. This would've been a certain death for any other fairy, but not for her.

 

Using her dark magic, she was able to transcend death by becoming an Undead hybrid between a spider and a fairy, being reborn as Arachne, the Spider Witch. She then rose an army of Undead fairies known as the Rottenberry, hellbent on burning Mycropia to the ground.

Demon Hunter

The forests and wastelands around the Kingdom of Mycropia are wandered by solitary fairies who have chosen the life of a hunter. Some of them were expelled from society for crimes they may or may have not committed. Others chose to walk away from this corrupt society on their own volition. And a few of them have been born into this life, with no choice of their own.

These pariahs are believed to have the soul of a scorpion and, in fact, many of them have chosen this ruthless animal as a companion in their hunt. In any case, you don’t want to be picked as their next prey…

Druid

We define eusociality as a set of behaviors some species of insects display, characterized by a complex social structure. Eusocial insects build sizeable nests, in which thousands of individuals live, each with their own role and specialization. Among all of them, there's one who stands above the rest: the Queen.

There are three eusocial species that inhabit the proximities of our home, the mighty Kingdom of Mycropia: the Lightjaw Ants, the Deadwood Termites and the Nectarsting Bees.

Hunter

Welcome to Oberon’s Royal Garden! The few noblefey invited to visit this paradise can relish sightseeing the most beautiful and awe-inspiring invertebrates in the whole world, have fun betting for their favorite racer in the Arthropoda Derby or simply enjoy a stroll around these tastefully curated gardens.

And, of course, no one should miss the opportunity to watch the crown jewel, Gallan the Gorgeous, a magnificent beast of stunning plumage and colossal size. Capturing this monster and building its cage were both massively costly endeavors; but after watching it in all its glory, I’m sure you’ll agree it was well worth it.

Mage

Few things are more devastating for fairies and insects alike than fire, a destructive force that can easily engulf the forests they inhabit. However, there is a particular Mycropian known as Flamecaller Ember who learnt to master this dangerous element and become immune to its flames. This wasn’t an easy feat, though, as her body became surrounded by fire and her mind was completely consumed.

Unlike other pariahs of the Kingdom of Mycropia, Ember doesn’t hold a particular grudge against King Oberon. But make no mistake, if she gets angered, the few things able to escape the blazes she conjures will surely succumb to her army of elementals and dragonflies.

Paladin

Perhaps, an even more perplexing case of eusociality is that of the Lightjaw Ants, which, despite their simple-mindedness, display a natural affinity to the Holy Light. There are many theories trying to explain this odd behavior, but the leading one is that their conviction to protect their Queen and expand their colony is akin to the faith of the most devout Paladin.

Priest

Polite, delicate and experts in all sorts of etiquette, the Nightglow lunar priestesses serve as both the religious and diplomatic elite of the Mycropian court.

They’re led by Moonspeaker Selunia, whose soft voice can alleviate even the tensest situations. In fact, her persuasive skills are so good she’s said to use mindbending spells to achieve the mysterious goals of the Nightglow.

Another discipline the Priestesses have mastered is taming butterflies and moths of all kinds. Reigning among them is Senulia's personal pet, an atlas moth known as Silverwind whose wingspan can put many birds to shame

Rogue

One is safer in the battlefield than between the palace walls. ~ Mycropian adage.

With the absolute power Oberon holds, many ambitious fairies are willing to do whatever it takes to be as close to the monarch as they can. Complots, conspiracies and murders involving Centipede Poison are commonplace in this environment where you could be the top dog one day and be beheaded the very next one.

One of the strongest players of this political game is Lady Elytra, a relative newcomer who has gained a lot of power in a very short time, coinciding with the mysterious death of several important courtiers. Rumors say she’s actually a Rottenberry Undead plotting to assassinate the king himself, and that she hides her stench using floral fragrances. But, of course, that must be an ill-tongued rival envious of her position…

Clarification on Lady Elytra: Poisons with an effect that triggers when your hero attacks will instead trigger when the Assassins attack instead.

Welcome to the Murky Pond! Located in the vicinities of Mycropia, this unassuming spring hosts an incredibly diverse ecosystem where insects, Elementals, tiny Murlocs known as Sea Monkeys and other kinds of creatures coexist in harmony.

This harmony is far from peaceful, though, as creatures sport a hierarchy of prey and predator, in which the aberration known as Urpa, Terror of the Pond, reigns supreme.

Warlock

Our final case of study is the Deadwood Termites. These animals have developed eusociality in isolation, as they are more closely related to cockroaches than they are to ants or bees.

But, of course, their most defining trait is their seemingly infinite hunger, as they will consume whatever gets in their path like an unstoppable force. In fact, the war they wage against the Lightjaw Ants might be our only saving grace: if this delicate balance was to be broken and either of them emerged victorious, Mycropia, even in all its might, would not stand a chance.

Warrior

Masters of their craft, the Artisan Fairies are highly valued by Oberon's court, as their fine weapons are key to maintaining Mycropia's military supremacy. Some of them, however, are secretly against the regime and use their privileged position to smuggle their fine creations to opposing factions.

The most predominant of these is the Shapbranch Militia, a group of scarab-riding freedom fighters led by the fierce Captain Koleos. It's said that, when battling in their forest, not even the whole Mycropian army could defeat them...

Now onto the meat (pun very much intended) of this competition. The two new keywords Recipe and Ingredient. Recipe are food spell cards that have middling effect at base but they will gain bonus each time you play a card with the listed keyword Ingredient this game. Ingredient as a keyword do not do anything on their own but it will upgrade your Recipe cards. There will be cards in the set to generate and draw your Recipe and Ingredients.

Returning Keywords: Manathirst

With all the food laying around, the audience attending and watching the cooking show must be hungry. Manathirst make a return to reflect that flavor of eating and drinking all the delicious food shown.

With the food and eating themes, each class will receive 2 Diners, one from each Dual class pairing. Diners are Epic dual class minion with effect that activate after you play a Recipe and Ingredient, as well as a Manathirst effect.

A long long time ago, in a website far far away called hearthpwn, Demonxz95 and I collabed to create an expansion called Once Upon A Time In Azeroth as a part of the Year Creation Competition. You can check the old version of the expansion on Hearthpwn:

The expansion receive good attention to the point of advancing to the next round. Since then, many things have changed. The power level of the game has increased, the creation of a rotating Core set, two new classes were added and spell schools are added. With that in mind, I have decided to return and reboot this expansion with the intention of updating the expansion for the current power level as well as finishing it as a full expansion with Demon Hunter and Death Knight cards added. Demonxz95 doesn't participate in this project but he gave me his blessing.

Stories cards: Stories are powerful Legendary spells. All of them have powerful Start of Game effects as well as a separate, weaker effect when played. Each class will have a Story that will tied to the theme of their set. They are heavily build-around cards that demand a specific playstyle or cards to be effective. As per tradition of the recent expansions, each players will receive a  Story of the class they chose when you first log in:

A lifetime ago, I made a custom Hearthstone expansion concept called The Trials Within Us, which was about overcoming personal adversity to achieve greatness. Each class would embody a flaw of some kind - Doubt, Arrogance, Fear, etc. - and that in turn would be related to a story from Warcraft lore. In The Burdens of Shaohao animated video series, Emperor Shaohao gained enlightenment and saved Pandaria from The Great Sundering by overcoming the Sha - manifestations of negative emotions - that burdened his soul and held him back.

The main selling point in terms of gameplay were the Trials, which function like reverse-Quests: the spell would provide you a Start of Game benefit, in exchange for an ongoing and permanent Burden you must deal with for the rest of the game.

If the title didn't give it away, I am brainstorming the notion of rebooting and overhauling the set for the modern age, and have put together some pieces to share with you. It's not much currently, because I'm throwing out most of it for being too old/weak, but feedback is welcome: turns out, I still enjoy the process of card-creation, and just might keep this up for a bit...in-between work, depression, and other obligations, of course.

For those who don't remember, Trial cards are Legendary spells with no Mana cost, as they are cast immediately when the game begins. They do not appear in your mulligan, are removed from your deck afterward, and cannot be generated in any capacity. The Burdens take the form of a black gem, like the orange gem for Quests: you don't hold them in your hand or interact with them directly.

I'll put what I have in class order, which now includes Death Knight and Demon Hunter!

The Death Knight

The Death Knight's Sha is Sorrow: Enslaved by the Arch-Lich, some Death Knights held onto their morals even as their bodies betrayed them. There would be no release from this cursed existence: they could never make up for their sins.

Story Legendary: Sir Zeliek. So strong was his faith that he could use the Light even after being turned into a Death Knight. Forced to become one of the Four Horsemen, elite guard of Kel'Thuzad. He would suffer relentlessly, unwittingly putting former friends and family to the sword and seeing them rise again as members of the Scourge.

Deck Archetype: Exploiting the Start of Game payout via "Summon a copy of this" effects like Shambling Zombietank, to quickly hit the 4-minion requirement. Reborn allows for you to trade whilst keeping the correct total.

The Demon Hunter

The Demon Hunter's Sha is Anger: Hardened by pain, novice Demon Hunters use their anger to steel their will and hone their body. Only a select few can survive the initial training intact.

Story Legendary: Leotheras, Blind Rage. Kael'Thas sent Illidan five blood elves to become potential Demon Hunters. Only one succeeded: three died, while Leotheras was driven mad by the horrible visions he saw. He fled the compound before being captured by the naga of Lady Vashj. Some say he was possessed by a literal demon.

Deck archetype: Big Spells, that summon high-Health Taunts or inflict damage without relying on a board of wee minions (that would otherwise be killed by the debuff).

The Druid

The Druid's Sha is Fear: A dark force seeks to consume the Emerald Dream from within. When a mortal has become corrupted by the Nightmare, there is no return; only death will set them free.

Story Legendary: Xavius, Nightmare Lord. The first of the satyrs, Xavius was transformed by Sargeras, the Destroyer when Queen Azshara sided with the Burning Legion. Despite this, Xavius remained a servant of the Old Gods, who eventually pushed him to corrupt Ysera and the Emerald Dream from within.

Deck Archetype: "Feral" Druid, attacking with your hero. Minions clearing the way so your attacks can go Face. Lashing out with Windfury, while recovering with Lifesteal.

The Hunter

The Hunter's Sha is Hatred: Her desire for vengeance pushes Alleria beyond the Dark Portal. She will come to know a thousand years of war, in the Twisting Nether.

Story Legendary: Alleria of the Void. Older sister of Sylvanas and Vereesa, she led an expedition into the Twisting Nether, only for a thousand years to pass from their perspective. She returned to Azeroth with her Army of the Light, to take on the Burning Legion as the first of the void elves.

Deck Archetype: A Hero Power-focused "sniper" fantasy, spreading shots to multiple enemies at once. Eat your heart out, Legolas.

The Mage

The Mage's Sha is Gluttony: Reliant upon the power of the Sunwell for centuries, the "Blood Elves" are addicted to magic. What lengths will they go to sate their appetite?

Story Legendary: Kael'Thas the Fel. So desperate to free the blood elves from magic addiction, Kael'thas Sunstrider sided first with the naga and their master Illidan for aid; later, he turned on them to join the Burning Legion, with promises of the power necessary to save his people.

Deck Archetype: Deathrattle Big Spell Mage. Purposefully allow your weak minions to die to leech their magical energy, thereby fueling your spells.

The Paladin

The Paladin's Sha is Doubt: Enslaved by the Iron Horde, their leader lost, her people betrayed; Yrel will take it upon herself to lead the draenei into the Light. But is she truly worthy of such a task?

Story Legendary: Yrel, Light of Hope. High Exarch Yrel hails from an alternate world dominated by the Iron Horde, seemingly doomed to suffer a horrible fate. Instead, she rose to prominence after the Alliance came to help defeat Garrosh's rebellion, leading her people against their tormentors.

Deck Archetype: 1-Versus-Many control, expressing the fantasy of being an unstoppable badass against the forces of evil.

The Priest

The Priest's Sha is Arrogance: "I consume the essence of the weak and foolish," the blade whispers in your mind. "You're not weak...are you?" Only the mad would dare wield such an artifact.

Story Legendary: Black Blade Xal'atath. Xal'atath is a sentient weapon said to be a claw of Y'Shaarj itself. Known to speak lies and drive people to madness. Eventually freed from the dagger by possessing a dead elf, she made a pact with N'Zoth. The primary antagonist of the latest World of Warcraft expansion, more details are unknown.

Deck Archetype: Shadow Face Priest, using your Hero Power in a race to win before you kill yourself.

The Rogue

The Rogue's Sha is Zeal: The Defias Brotherhood want what they're owed...but ambition will be their undoing. Revolutions demand attention, and that's exactly what they'll get.

Story Legendary: Vanessa VanCleef. Daughter of the former Defias Brotherhood leader, she eventually lead the organization in its efforts against the nobles of Westfall. Much later, she would put down her swords and poisons, helping to form the Breadbasket Guild to aid in the revitalization of the common people.

Deck Archetype: Coin Control Rogue, using Coins to trigger interesting effects beyond simple Mana-cheating.

The Shaman

The Shaman's Sha is Despair: Broken and lost, nightmares of his failure haunt the fallen Paladin Nobundo. The Light would not hear his cries; who would come to the aid of the former draenei and his people?

Story Legendary: Farseer Nobundo. A member of the "Broken", having become deformed and losing his connection to the Light, Nobundo prayed for guidance. He was eventually heard, but not by the Light: the Wind came to him, offering a connection to the elements and a way out of his despair.

Deck Archetype: Frost and Nature spells to stall/remove threats before the Frozen copies become a problem. Minions that don't benefit from being copied.

The Warlock

The Warlock's Sha is Violence: Binding his soul to the Burning Legion, Gul'dan will know power and blood as Darkness Incarnate. The Legion is infinite; their tolerance for failure is not.

Story Legendary: Kil'jaeden, Lord of Flame. Second in command of the Burning Legion under the Dark Titan Sargeras, the Destroyer, and creator of the undead Scourge. He was purposed with recruiting new allies to the Legion, and has held sway over several prominent characters over the years.

Deck Archetype: Self-Destruction, not of Health like normal but of one's other resources. Blowing up your Mana Crystals, burning your hand, destroying your board; etc. Turn-and-burn until you win, or the Burning Legion runs out of patience.

The Warrior

The Warrior's Sha is Madness: Voices haunt one's mind from all sides, yearning to break free from the shackles of sanity. Giving in could put this world in great peril; the level of destruction would be...cataclysmic.

Story Legendary: Deathwing, Worldbreaker. Neltharion fought alongside his dragon siblings to keep Galakrond, the Unbreakable from consuming the world. Becoming the Aspect of the Earth, he would grow to resent the task placed on him, giving the Old Gods a chance to corrupt the black dragon with promises of freedom.

Deck Archetype: Dragons and Fire, but also creeping insanity before surrendering to the madness and letting one's rage burst forth.

Welcome to the Brawl'Gar Arena. People from all over Azeroth, Outland or wherever gather around to witness fearless combatants to put their mettle and their might in ruthless bloodshed to see who will survive in a battle to the death. But it's not only their lives at stake, it's also their glories. If you don't have the heart to put your life out there for killing, we're home to a large group of spectators and fans who come here for the thrill of the fight and death.

Everyone who fights is out there for blood! Blood is what fuels their fighting spirit and when it spills, the fight amps up. The fans are excited and the fighters become furious. But don't worry, not everyone in the arena dies. Sometimes they just get really big bruises. Bloodthirst is the first of two new keywords added to the set. The first time the enemy hero takes damage while you control a minion with Bloodthirst, you'll activate a special bonus. Sometimes these bonuses might scale based on the amount of damage you deal.

During the fight, some of our contenders may eventually start to lose their edge and this is where you go in for the final strike. Getting the first hit in is sometimes difficult but...

Overpower is the other new keyword in Gladiators of Brawl'Gar. When cards with Overpower deal more than enough damage to kill a minion, they deal the excess damage to the enemy hero. If the enemy's minions are going down, they're going down with them! This even works on your own minions! As long as the Overpower card deals excess damage, it doesn't matter how they dealt it, the rest goes to your opponent. If the face plays Taunt... me still go face!

We've seen a few cards with this effect over the course of Hearthstone's history which will be changed to have the keyword.

Some people like to fight fair. Others... they like to cheat. And good on them. It's tolerated at the arena as long as you don't get caught. Some Ethereals have started a black market around the arena to sell you some supplements or gear to help you win the fight or make some gold. Black Market cards encourage you to run as many different types of cards by giving you a payoff for each different type you run.

With cards that reward you for playing cards of each card type, there's going to be an inundation of locations and hero cards, right? Well, not necessarily, but we've got some cool cards of both types. Plus we've even got Neutrals of both types too. Upon launch of the set, you'll be able to choose between obtaining either Bizmo or Boss Bazzleflange for free right now, and then you'll get the other one for free later. They both use the same Hero Power. If you're feeling up to the challenge, you can try to design a deck that uses both! Or a deck that uses one plus one of the class hero cards!

Prior to the set launching, all players will also get Esme Sunshadow for free to experiment with in their decks, and if you pre-order the set, you'll get her in glorious diamond form!

Death Knight

Buff that hand!!! If you're a fan of holding your minions and watching them reach astronomically high Attack values, then this is the set for you. Watch as the minions in your hand get bigger and bigger until you push them all onto the field for the kill. Even better. You like your opponent's minion? Take it! Buff your Stitches and watch it hook your opponent's strongest minion into your own hand for you to turn on them. With a new hero, you can even cheat death and snatch victory when your opponent thought they had you!

TAUNT, TAUNT, TAUNT!!!! Even though the class is almost 5 years old (yes, it truly has been that long. I'm sorry if I made you feel old), it still feels very one-dimensional compared to the other classes. Let's give them a new archetype! But which one? They have a lot of Taunt minions. Let's make Taunt Demon Hunter!

If you're tired of constantly getting hit in the face by your opponent's pesky minions, then it's time to get those rough demon scales out and play defensively. But for Illidan, playing defensively is also playing offensively! Taunt Demon Hunter is a new spin on other Taunt archetypes by combining defense and aggression. Hide behind your Taunts while you keep pushing face! But what about spells you ask? Those aren't affected by Taunts, so they can just hit me anyway. OR THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK,  HAHAHA!

Druid

Anyone who plays card games likes to see BIG NUMBER, and Druid is all about big numbers in this set. Remember the 5-Attack synergy from Un'Goro? Let's bring this back here! In a set that likes to push face damage, seeing those big Attack values are where it's at! You can choose between a more aggressive style of 5-Attack deck that likes to put minions on the board quickly and deal lots of damage, or a slower variant that keeps putting bigger minions on the board until your opponent can't deal with them anymore. Since we're dealing with large Attack values, why don't we throw in some Overpower as well!

Do you want to cast a spell? I want to cast a spell!

In a set that loves face damage, you know that Hunter is going to be excited to hunt that hero! But doing it with minions is old school. Let's go for some Spell Damage! As a Hunter in this set, you'll employ some spells that you can use to burst some faces down and some Spell Damage to make them burn even more. You can even give the spells Overpower to hit face AND the minions at the same time! Who wouldn't want that?

Is it getting hot in here or is it just me?

If you like to play with Fire, then Mage's set this time around is once you'll have a blast with. In Mage, you'll have the tools to burn, and fry, and crisp your opponent into a charred-up carcass. We've got ways to give your spells more damage, and spells that deal damage that also give you more spells that deal damage. But not only can we destroy the face, but we can also destroy the WHOLE BOARD while we're at it! Isn't playing with fire so fun?*

*On that note, if you're a child of a parent who browses this website, then please do not actually play with fire. It's very dangerous. You might hurt someone or damage the house. Best to avoid taking chances.

Given that Paladins have been a weapon class since the very beginning of the game, it's very weird that we've never received weapon synergy for Paladin. Until today! Now is the time for Paladins to grab their hammers and rush into battle. In this set, Paladin gets some weapon synergy and some new design space to explore. People die in the gladiator arena. But that's not a problem because we can just bring them back to life! Hey, don't look at me like that. We've gotta get talent from somewhere and live talent is expensive. Here in Priest, you've got the ability to resurrect past dead champions and put them back into the ring again! People say that a legacy never dies, and in this case, we mean that literally. They will not rest because we keep bringing them back.

What if I told you that I already know who's going to win? A little bit of change goes a long way. Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

Rogues are running a gambling service in this set. Place your bets on who's going to win and hope that you can make some coins. But as you will come to see, not all games that Rogues are offering here are winnable. The organization is run by a sneaking group of pirates with a knack for trickery and bribery to ensure who's going to come out on top. You can mope around in your loses all day... or you can join in the fun and make some less-than-honest cash.

Every fighting organization's gotta have those flashy fighters that like to show off their style, and this colorful cast of characters provides exactly that.

In this set, Shaman is about mixing different spell schools together and benefitting off of casting multiple different types. The more you cast, the stronger they'll get! After all, matches would be pretty boring if you saw the competitors perform the same move over and over again. Shaman provides you with all the move variety you could ask for. Some will turn the heat of battle. Some will send an electrifying shock into the audience. Some will be left cold in disturbance as their conscious tries to render what they just watched.

What devilishy evil scheme has Warlock cooked up this time today? Warlock is running a typical minion-flood strategy that it loves, but it's a little bit different this time. This time, we give it a solid 1/1 giving it a perfect score! Warlock is all about synergies with 1/1 minions this go around. Put those little minions onto the board and watch as we prove that how you use it matters more than the... Wait, nope. Uhhh... Don't underestimate the little guy is what I'm saying. But how do those little guys do so well? You didn't hear this from me, but I've heard that Warlock has been passing around some... suspicious substances if you catch my drift.

Warriors can never seen to make up their mind on if they want to be mercilessly aggressive or patiently tanky. Well in this set, it's much closer to the former. Warrior in this set loves to be aggressive and overpowering. Overpowering? Yes, it's only one of the set's keywords after all. If you like to go face with Warrior, then your time is now my friend! We've got the most Overpower cards of any class with these blood-colored red cards, and you've got ways to deal some damage!

I've been missing the weekly card design competition we used to have in this site since they ended. So, some time afterwards, I started to participate in the comps they have at the r/customhearthstone subreddit.

However, these comps lack the part I enjoyed the most: giving and receiving feedback. To fulfill this, I decided to make this thread, so that we can some of that fun without overloading linkblade and Demon with work.

This week's comp is Bloodrock is hiring, in which you'll have to create an Azerite reward or an Excavate card for classes that didn't receive them. There's also a secondary reward for the card with the best artwork.

I made a Hearthstone Battlegrounds set based around Worgen as a potential new minion type. Have a look and let me know what you think!

Two new Keywords are also introduced with the addition of the Worgen type:

Curse: When this minion damages an enemy, it applies its Curse to that minion, reducing its stats and applying other card-specific effects

Ambush: At the start of combat, this minion attacks immediately. It then skips its next attack.

over at the r/customhearthstone subreddit, we're hosting HearthPhone: an event during which several teams collectively design a custom set, with a twist: every team only creates 10 cards, and only gets to see the 10 cards which were designed by the previous team! Does this fancy game of broken telephone sound familiar? It could, because this website featured an article on the previous round!

If you like designing cards with a purpose and don't mind working on a team, you should definitely look at this reddit post, where you can read the rules and register. When registering, you even get to state what classes you would or wouldn't like to design for, and mention if you'd like to team up with another specific designer.

For more examples of HearthPhone, you can check this YouTube video out rounding up the first run of this event. The second event was held on the subreddit, and you can check the results down here in this reddit post. The results are always a veritable mess, but hey, what can one expect after each team has such limited information?

Competition Theme: Stacked Against You

You're at the final challenge and the deck isn't stacked in your favor. Can you salvage a way to win the fight?

• You must make a card with a deckbuilding restriction. You're free to choose whatever restriction you want as long as it's explicit and requires some level of thoughtful deckbuilding.
  • In other words, cards that technically have deckbuilding restrictions to use properly, but don't say so on the card (like Mogu Cultist or Elwynn Boar) or otherwise don't prevent its normal functionality will not count. While certain cards like Gather Your Party or Clumsy Courier discourage you from using cheap minions or spells in your deck, they don't necessarily prevent you from using them and in any deck (assuming it has at least one minion or one spell in it), it will still maintain its normal functionality.
  • While there are no clearly defined designations for what counts as 'thoughtful deckbuilding', simply using common sense will make this a non-issue. You wouldn't call Town Crier a card with a 'deckbuilding restriction' because your deck needs a Rush minion to tutor.

 Heeeeeeeeello llo lloooo, I'm back here again to present you the remake of my most aclaimed custom expansion ever, and that expansion is Rock in Azeroth! An expansion fully themed around Metal music, which was going to get some new cards due the Death Knight class, but then I've decided to remake the whole thing. And to be clear here, the remake has been under development way before the Festival of Legends were anounced, so the fact I'm revealing it along side a music themed expansion was a mere coincidence. But enough talk, let's get to the introduction, so ladies and gentlemen, welcome, to ROCK IN AZEROTH!!! REEEEEEEEEEMIXEEEEEED!!!!

So for those who don't know, Rock in Azeroth remixed is a expansion that brings the thunderous power of metal music to Hearthstone. Inspired by the classic Rock in Azeroth expansion, this remixed version adds a fresh twist with new  mechanics and updated card designs. The set brings 145 cards + Mini-set attached to the expansion! Yes, it's attached, Co's I won't wait for the set to lose relevence to post new cards.

Each class in the expansion is themed around a sub-genre of metal music, adding a unique flavor and personality to every deck. Whether you're a fan of power metal, black metal, or any other metal sub-genre, you'll find a deck that fits your style in here.

One of the expansion's mechanics is Solo, which rewards players for controlling only a single minion on the board. Solo minions have powerful effects that trigger at the end of the turn if no other minions are present, unlike the soloists from Festival of Legends, who let's be honest, really sucks.

Another mechanic in Rock in Azeroth Remixed is the Band Member keyword. These 2/2 minions come in pairs and are summoned through other cards, adding a layer of depth and strategy to deck building. Each Band Member has a unique set of keywords that work in tandem with their partner, and unlike the originals, they are instantly summoned instead of going to your hand.

In the original expansion, there's was the Stages, spells that repeated their effects at the start of your next three turns, and now the Stages are back, but they have been reformulated. Now the Stages are Locations, and ALL classes will get one now.

Death Knight: Death Metal

By the time the original expansion came out, Death Knight wasn't a class, so to incorporate them into the remix, I had to make an adaptaion. Originally, Death Metal was Warrior's theme, but since the genre fits Dk waaaaay more thematically, I had to swicth themes, and now Warrior has a new one, but I'll get to that later. So, let's start the festival with one the most famous and loved (and also fearded) Metal genre, which is Death Metal. The first one the line is Schuldiner, the Death, who'll forcelly start a mosh pit and bring all enemies together with us to celebrate. And then we'll have Geor'di, the Corpsegrinder, so who'll make sure everyone on the audience get a bit of his corpses (ew).

Demon Hunter: Thrash Metal

Let's start the show with one of the most famous and loved Metal sub-genre, Thrash Metal, which is represented by Demon Hunters here, aggressive, fast and heavy, very fitting for the class. Mus'taine, the Demon Hunter legendary got reject buy his former band members, now he must gather new members to show that his better then them. On the other side of the stage, rumors says that James Heatfiend is influciencing his young audience to make sacrifices and summon demons, is the rumors true? Watch the show and find out!

Next "band " on the line is Druid, with the most modern and popular genre nowadays, New Metal, or Nu Metal for the intimates. Heavy and slighlly melodic, and this will be represented by cards like Drai'man, who will eventually pack a punch on your ears with his music, and also Malakian, who'll show the crazy side of the show.

Hunter: Heavy Metal

The good old Heavy Metal, who came before all the labels, represented by Hunters, who are just as aggresive and straight forward as the class. Rustwyx is back, and is leading the show for Hunters now, but a random person throwed a bat at the stage and he ate it! Help him to vomit the bat away before its too late. On the other stage, Eddie the Beast is turning fallen beasts into zombeasts, are they real or just animatronics? See below.

Mage: Prog Metal

Mage's is going for a more progressive vibe with their Progressive Metal, playing long songs which avoid repeting the melody by not playing the same cards over and over, and eventually play a powerful riff who'll wipe all enemies from the stage, and Paul Me'under is keeping the song on with his amazing guitar skills.

Paladin: Power Metal

Power Metal! My favorite music style who will be portraited by paladins, with fast and melodic songs about heroes and dragons, and speaking of Dragons, Hermangonos arived at the stage to show the force of the Dragons, while Kai'han's band will show you the real power of metal.

Priest: Symphonic Metal

And here we have Priest, hanging in the balance between Light and Darkness, with their dark and yet beautiful Symphonic Metal. The beautiful and epic side will be represented by the Nigth Priestess Tarja, while the dark and mysterious side will be portraited by Therion, the shadow dragon who created the genre and are more than whiling to play it for you.

No time to writte, Rogues are playing their Speed Metal too fast here, Yngwie is playing some unbelivible fast solos, while Stump is leading the audince to Headbang in the music's rhythm and...Oh! I guess someone broke their neck...anyway, the show must continue!

Shaman: Folk Metal

 

The next one on the line is Shaman, playing their Folk Metal with two completly different flavours. First we have the god of the north Týr (not to be mistaken by the Titanic Keeper) bringing the cold winds of the north to the stage. And then we have Captain Morgan, who's making everyone on the audience drunk with his Storm of Ale.

Warlock: Black Metal

 

Here we have Black Metal, dark, obscure and menacing, like the average Warlock, my favorite class mixed with my least favorite genre, what will come out of the combination of them? Let's find out. The stage has turned dark, a mist is slowlly growing, them Virg arived and killed one of his band members! Well, no way this is real, it must be just part of the show...wait, now demons started to appear on the stage and...OMG! It's Shaggrath, the Impure, and he is not known for his tolerance, so if you don't like Black Metal, you better get out QUICKLY!

Warrior: Metalcore

So originally, Warrior's theme was Death Metal, but since this is DK's theme now, the new Warrior's theme is Core Metal! (Metalcore, Deathcore and Grindcore), so I hope you like melodic riffs, aggresive guitars and pig squeaking. To end the festival with style we have Mattuck Demonwaker, with his heavy and yet melodic and romantic songs, and then we'll have Shane Enfury, who'll grind the core out of the audience.

So as promised, i've returned with the mini-set, and now it's not merelly a mini-set, now it has a name and a theme. So ladies and gentlemen, i'd like to introduce you to the land so far away, where the heavy metal plays, people uses always black, there's no place for any gray. To this land there is no plane, to this land there's only one bus, get a taxi? There's no way, headbangers, come with us, to the land placed somewhere between Norway...and India, the Rock in Azeroth festival has come to the promised land, so...

LET'S RIDE TO METAL LAND!!!

In Metal Land, we'll met the son of the Metal God himself, Detonator, and his almight guitarist Metal Avenger, who shared a little bit of his power to improve the band's performance, and that is the power of the new keyword exclusive to the mini-set the Perfect Solo!
Just like the Solo mechanic, the effect triggers at the end of your turn if you have no other minions, BUT...the minion must stay alone on the board for (X) turns, such powerful effect wouldn't come so easylly obviouslly.

Along with the Perfect Solo, he also brought us instruments, a set of neutral weapons that can turn your hero into a Band Member.
