Spells like this are always naturally powerful. Weapon Rogue might really come together...perhaps even without Galakrond
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
more for warrior than rogue, rogue generally doesn't lack card draw but if you play a 4 attack weapon and Deadly Poison hmm ok.
Hehe, puns. Seems better in Warrior that Rogue since they typically run more weapons and has a harder time with card draw than Rogue. However, with cards like scimitar and Waggle Pick, this could easily become very cheap and a great way for Tempo Rogues to refill their hands.
For rogues this is just amazing. It isn't hard to attack at least 4 times with your daggers throughout the game. And for warriors I think this will mainly be used in Pirate warrior with Ancharrr, Livewire Lance, and all of the weapon buffs. All in all a pretty good card for classes that can appreciate it.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
This pushes the new weapon Reaper's Scythe, but i don't think the weapon will be good so this won't be played either. In wild it's good in pirate warrior with Arcanite Reaper.
Living like that.
This card remins me alot of Solemn Vigil its super good
Very nice card. Might even persuade midrange pirate warriors to run arcanite reaper, especially with the 4 drop that summons a minion equal to weapon attack.
Not as many rogue decks can use this card, but it's always worth considering.
This post is discussing the wild format.
I think you have misunderstood this card. It has cost reduction equal to the attack of your weapon. Not how many times you have attacked with your hero this game.
Oh, your right, I thought the wording seemed a bit off. I guess I have been looking at too many new cards too fast :P.
The card is probably less good than I thought, but still not terrible. You only to have a 2 attack weapon for this to be fair value, any more than that and it is amazing.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
A bit of a pun there since "cutting class" usually refers to the act of not going to class whereas this card appears to depict a class that's literally about cutting things.
Most weapons that are run usually have around 2 or more base Attack, so it evens out to an Arcane Intellect. Although with all the buffing you can do, you can get this dirt cheap. For aggressive weapon decks, this seems like it'd be pretty good.
2 mana draw 2 is really good, and most weapons have 3 attack, so yeah, really good card.
Draws you cards and if you have a 5 damage weapon then this is free.
Yes, this is good. Yes this will go into all aggro rogue/warrior decks. But will it ever go anywhere else? That's another question. Risky Skipper combo is still here and not going anywhere, and rogue still has cards like Dirty Tricks and Greyheart Sage to do the same thing.
Perhaps next year this will truly shine. Until then, I cant see Risky Skipper making way for this, so its strictly going to aggro pirate warrior and little else.
Very good - the draw will be very cheap if not free most of the time.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Warrior: Warrior always had a big weakness in terms of card draw, this really helps out a lot! Also warrior always has weapons in their deck, so this might as well see play in every warrior deck. warriors often uses Arcanite Reaper in aggro decks, so Cutting Class will be a FREE draw 2. Really good! Maybe quest warrior might become good after all this support? Time wil tell i guess.
Rogue: Rogue already has 4 atk cards, meaning this generally is a 1 mana draw 2. This is REALLY good. Also rogue loves buffing their weapons as well, so this will see play for sure!
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I believe every aspiring-rogue-and-warrior will love to attend the Cutting Class. This is the necessary draw engine for those weapon deck. And maybe.. hello Hack the System??
I really can't get it why there are comments like this. It is like we have a tournement format while playing on ladder and we have a limitation to build only one deck with a class.
It doesn't mean that some viable class decks outclass the other. There might be different viable archetypes for a class and that doesn't mean they are outclassing each other.
Risky Skipper combo is a different thing, this card's support is different. You might want to climb ladder with that deck, someone wants to play warrior but with different archetype.
Don't act like there "should" or "have to" be only one archetype of deck for each class in the meta.
If you have said that some existing cards outclass this one for target archetype like " Why would i use Self-Sharpening Sword while i can use Hooked Scimitar or Waggle Pick" I could understand tho. But you are comparing different type of cards for different archetypes.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
It is trivial in Warrior to get this down to a baseline "3 mana draw 2," but they already have Battle Rage, which is tough to compete with in a deck that plans to use a lot of weapons. Rogue also has a lot of card draw options, and has a harder time setting up powerful weapons, so I'm not sure this makes the cut there either.
Rogue has some weapons and ways to buff them, but ye warrior is just superior.
Nonetheless, both classes can use some extra cheap card draw, so it will be interesting to see which deck will include this one. I like the design, the name and the artwork.
“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” ― George Bernard Shaw
EU Legend: S52 (ZooHeal Lock); S76 (Highlander Hunter);
Even with a 2 attack weapon, this is Arcane Intellect, a card that has seen constant play since Day One. And it won't be that hard for either class to make it even cheaper.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
5 mana draw 2 cards has been seen in Druid with Aeroponics, which helped the Treant Token deck during the launch of DoD until the Year of the Raven Rotated out leaving some key Treant synergy cards out of standard.
Both Warrior and Rogue are prominent weapon classes, and both have also received some cards in this set that benefit from running weapons - Doctor Krastinov and SteelDancer, who either increase the attack and durabililty or summons additional minions based on weapon attack.
If discounted by (2) mana this card becomes the equivalent of Arcane Intellect, while not the most powerful draw spell in Hearthstone it is one of the most seen historically with Tempo and freeze mage.
2 deck archetypes that care about having weapons are the quests from Savior of Ulduum, Warrior requires weapons to accomplish the quest while Rogues gives a very beneficial weapon on their hero power. I feel that both decks were somewhat mid-range in playstyle, and mid-range can always use more draw.
The Galakrond decks can also utilize this card if they've been invoked enough times to equip the Weapon. play Galakrond, effect goes off, play this spell.
It can become a fairly cheap and flexible spell for both classes, I believe it will see some play on the ladder
I dont get this response. Its not as though as Im shitting on any particular deck or archetype. And its not like I'm saying or implying that one deck trumps the other. All that was said was that I dont see this going anywhere except aggro decks for both rogue and warrior.
Seems much better in warrior than rogue, even with their weapon buffs. Draw is always nice, but this is kinda weakish. Pirate warrior definitely won't turn down cheap draw though.
Thanks to Secret Passage and Battle Rage both class don't need a new draw card...but it's good enough. We have Hooked Scimitar, Waggle Pick and Reaper's Scythe...and draw 2 for 1 mana is super good
I feel like this is going to be too slow to see real play.
Thanks to denial, I'm immortal.
This might be good enough.
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Like the card, like the joke in the name!!
Looks alright, but I feel like the classes have better card draw currently.
Drawing card is always one of warriors weakness, this will come in handy, given the right weaponry.
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Ah, so good for Recruit Warrior. Two 1-cost cards drawing 4 cards after playing
There's some new weapons, and old ones, that would make this spell 1 or 0 cost draw 2. That's a good deal.
Free draws for weapon warrior, bring back your fiery war axes
All hail the banshee queen.
This card needs at least a 3 attack weapon to see play, which I can see in rogue with that new cute vulpera card or in warrior with Wrenchcalibur. 2 mana draw 2 is just good enough.
I thought this would be pretty weak, but it seems like Odd Rogue will be using this as an auto-include, so maybe some standard, hyper-aggro, weapon deck will get the same use out of it.
It seems like it is right on the cusp of really strong and kinda slow.
I guess this is (kind of?) worth it even with a two attack weapon because it is just Arcane Intellect. But obviously it's better if it's cheaper!
Disclaimer: if the above is factually incorrect or complete rubbish it is definitely both intentional and comedy genius.
Weapon warrior... This will be a strange meta.
Nice draw for both classes since it'll be either real cheap or might be a bit expensive but they both have enough weapons to sustain a cheap draw unlikes that candle breath or whatever.
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Card draw for tempo/pirate decks are always good.
Both classes can reduce the cost to 1-2 mana.
By The Holy Light!
Warrior was needing another card draw
Ugly for (5), decent at (3), amazing at (1) or (0). I say we will see this a lot next week forward.
This card and the new Reaper are made for each other. Reaper reduce cost of this card to a mere 1 mana, and this card active the weapon spellburt ability for 1 mana. So a turn 5 deal 4 dmg AOE while drawing 2 cards sound like a good swing turn to me.
Skipper armorsmith battlerage and ancharr combo is amazing, but at the cost of 7 cards in deck and you have to hold cards for that. This combo deal better AOE and draw little less card, but only cost 4 deck slot and you dont have to hold on much. You can just play weapon on curve then draw next turn while spellburst for example. That 3 extra deck slot are huge if Warrior get better armor gain cards than armoramith this year. And you can afford to have a tech card , which what CW needs
Great name. Good card.
It’s so easy for both classes to get a 3/4 discount on this. Then add in a weapon buff or two and this is essentially a 0 mana draw 2
More fuel for pirate decks and that’s about it. Shame that Gorehowl just doesn’t see play anymore though, would make it a reasonable control card.
As a side note, this is free with a fully invoked Galakrond.
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Card draw for Warriors...
-=alfi=-
With Arcanite Reaper and Gorehowl it's a free draw, which result in a huge tempo swing
I'm not sure if this will see play or not but I definitely love the pun lol.
I see this mainly in Pirate Warrior as you play [Hearthstone Card (Reaper Scythe) Not Found] on turn 4 and play this for free after playing Captain Greenskin or Doctor Krastinov on turn 5. I don't see this fitting into Rogue as well due to how efficient Secret Passage is as a reload already. Overall, more of an aggressive Warrior card than a Rogue card.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Things like Self-Sharpening Sword and Doctor Krastinov make this card much more appealing. Depending on the weapon meta for Rogue and Warrior this is either really good or really bad.
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
There are so many better draw options out there for both rogue and warrior. You either need to hold onto your equipped weapon and wait to play this or waste 5 mana for warrior, 4 mana at least for rogue
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Interesting to see warrior get some card draw. I can see this being played as a combo with, or in the turn after, playing a weapon. With rogue weapon buffs, it could easily become a 0-cost.
Official Lorekeeper and Spinner of Tavern Tales
Very strong card, since it'll be quite easy for both classes to play it for 2 or less.
Cool pun, and a pretty decent card as well. Like many have pointed out: with just a 2 Attack weapon this becomes Arcane Intellect, a staple in many Mage decks.
Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.
This seems really good. Reaper's Scythe makes this exciting in Warrior; Vulpera Toxinblade and Self-Sharpening Sword have it covered in Rogue; Doctor Krastinov for both of them.
