[Theory] Are the Explorers bi-class cards?
After seeing the outstanding cinematic trailer I thought explorer's classes were pretty clear:
Elise has a magic book-> she is a mage,
Brann rides a dinosaur-> he is an hunter,
Finley seem to have something to do with animals and nature-> he is a druid,
Reno has a cannon with crystals that generate light-> he is a pally.
But seeing the whole announcement trailer I noticed the druid quest has Elise in its art, so I relized she had to be a druid, but this created a lot of other problems, since no one else seems to be a mage; Reading the comments under the videos and here on out of cards it seems there is a consensus on the classes (elise as druid, finley as pally for the golden fish, reno as mage, since he has those magic crystals and brann as hunter); but even this scheme does not make that much sense to me, because druids don't use magic books(I might be mistaken since I'm not a wow player, but I don't remember a single druid with a book in hs), pallies don't have animals and crystals that generate light have nothing to do with mages, so I had an idea: "What if Explorers were bi-class?" and after seeing the trailer dozens of time I noticed something else: the weapons have characteristics from various classes:
Finley's golden fish sword is an animal, but is golden and seems to be enchanted with light(druid-pally)
Elise's magic book seems to have both etheral powers and nature-related ones(mage-druid, plus she also rides an horse)
Reno's gun has crystals and generates light, but it's also an hunter weapon (pally-hunter, and he also fights with animals in the part where he is alone)
Brann is the problematic one, since he has less screentime than the others (he just appears with other explorers while finley, elise and reno have a solo part during the trailer) and he has not a consistent weapon (at the start he has a whip and at the end a shotgun) and even if I guess its main "weapon" is the dinosaur (which has nothing to do with mages, unless it's not something like a magical dinosaur, but it does not look like that, and it's fully grown up at the start and just an egg at the end), Brann's class choice might have a deeper meaning.
Except for Brann, who's not highlighted as the others, I can't unsee the double nature of the explorers' weapons anymore.

They'll probably be all neutral minions, like their previous incarnation. Considering they're "heroes" they probably don't really have a specific class, except Elise that has "become" a Druid today after being announced as the new Druid potrait (nothing before that had ever pointed out that she may have been a Druid).
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the world, and loses his own soul?"
I disagree: there's no way they're gonna be neutral, as the villains aren't. Flavour-wise it just doesn't make any sense, since you could build a Rafaam-Reno deck, defeating the purpose of this division that Blizzard has made.
I kind of hope they aren't multi-class. I'd be fine with that for some other cards being split between the EVIL classes and the Hero classes.
Reno could be a Mage or Pally as everyone thinks he's a Bronze dragon in human form. In fact, a current Bronze dragon legendary for Paladin has a Reno-like effect (Nozari) so I could see him being Paladin more than Mage
Elise is very much the Druid hero as the hero skin you get with pre-ordering the mega bundle is a Druid skin of Elise Starseeker.
Brann would likely be the Hunter hero.
And Finley as a Mage hero, because Murloc Mage!!! And like you mentioned, his golden fish could be an enchanted type of item. Maybe he gives spell damage, or generates spells... or something interacting with spells.
My main question for the expansion is this: What is Elise going to shuffle into our decks this time?!?!
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
Don't see why they would be neutral. Rafaam and King were both neutral before and now they are linked to classes.
It's already been noted that the four non-E.V.I.L classes (hunter, mage, paladin, druid) are the good guys wiht Twinspell representing them defending Dalaran. And now we have Elise as a druid hero, Bran riding hunter-styled beasts and Reno wielding a crystal (paladin theme) cannon. So it makes sense to make them each one of the remaining heros while the other classes keep showing their E.V.I.L counterparts.
Note that the link between the classes are rather...iffy. Rafaam doesn't have anything to do with being a warlock and Lazul doesn't even make sense as a priest unless you want to stretch it to "she worships the old gods". Elise's staff is probably Druidic in nature, they gave Bran a dinosaur to make him fit with the hunters (even though Elise was the one who visited Un'Goru), Reno's gun is the only thing Paladin about him and Sir got a 'magical fish club' because Hagetha already grabbed the shaman spot when she was a Hero card and Finley going shaman means "MOAR MURLOC ShAMAn!" which doesn't sound as good.
In the end I think they mostly focused on the mechanics and then warped the story to fit the cards/mechanics. Which for a card game is what you want to happen.
not that them being neutral is wrong, but I'm guessing this is what's happening.
Why trade with minions when you can face for...billions?
I doubt they'll be dual class and I have to say I find the consensus opinion more plausible.
Brann as hunter is a no-brainer. Big hulking dino, whip, etc.
Paladins have had murloc affinity in the past, and the golden fish strikes me as an important clue, so Finleypally seems likely.
Elise and Reno are a bit more vague, but I'd say there are clues that pin them to druid and mage respectively. Reno escapes the sandworm with what could be a magical explosion, and his attribute, the crystal-blaster thingy looks decidedly technomagical. Elise's cloak is very reminiscent of a druid of the talon's and she ends the cutscene with a druid staff (turquoise colour scheme, gnarly, natural shape). As a counterpoint the book she starts out with does look more arcane than druidic, but It's ambiguous, and most of the other evidence has her as a druid, IMO.
I wouldn't hate the idea of them being bi-class cards, but I feel like they would've shown at least one of those right at the start, since it would be a "new mechanic" of sorts. So I'm not expecting that to happen.
I haven't played Wotlk for a long time, but I can swear that I have seen Boomkins/Resto dudus holding books in the off-hand slot. In order for them to do this, they have to wield one-hand weapons.
