Dragon Focused Decks

In this discussion I’d like to avoid all talks of Aurelion Sol, because that’s not what I’m talking about.
I’m curious what are your guys thoughts on the dragon cards? I had been a huge super frustrating losing streak, and then built a Demacia / Targon deck focused on Dragons, Striking opponents, and Rally. I have had a lot more wins against decks that had been destroying me. So I give them a thumbs up but I’m curious on your guys thoughts?

I personally haven't played much dragons yet, but I love that they are in the game. The Fury mechanic is a lot more fun in practice than I would think given how basic it looks on paper. I can't wait for Shyvana!
Yeah Demacia should get a nice bump after Shyv appears in-game. I hope she comes in October.
My favorite deck this expansion is a Demacia / Targon dragon deck. I run a couple copies of Zenith Blade too so that my ever growing dragon army doesn't get stopped by tiny followers. It's a shame I don't see that card more often, I love it.
See you in the next dimension...
Can you guys post your decklists? I suck at making decks but i really like the dragons.
I'll boop you
How do you post deck lists again
1.) Make the deck in OutOf.Cards (copy code -> Menu at the top of this page -> Deckbuilder -> Import -> Save)
2.) Go to the new page for your deck and click the "Copy BB Code" button -- this will put it in your clipboard
3.) Paste from clipboard into your comment. It will create something of the form {runedeck}1234{/runedeck}, except with square brackets instead of squiggly
Here's a very competitive dragon list I've already entered. I've also seen variants with Garen and with no champions.
Dragons are a cool gimmic for less serious play and i am really fine with them existing the only competetive viable dragons are Aurelion Sol Screeching Dragon, Fused Firebrand and The Infinite Mindsplitter and in general its cool to have bulky midrange cards i am not sure if shyvana can make dragons viable (i mean i am 99% sure her levelup has to do with fury triggers) but lets see... for now noxus reigns over Runeterra and we shall see if they turn out as a worthy opponent
The Dragon tribal deck seems pretty sweet. I haven't been that impressed with Herald of Dragons - she's super flimsy - but Dragon's Clutch is a great draw tool and the Fury keyword combined with Demacia's various strike spells makes Dragons a very effective midrange deck.
I know the OP doesn't want to talk about Aurelion Sol, but until Shyvana is added to the game later in the Call of the Mountain set, I think it's hard to avoid the overlap. Even if you're not running his as a 3-of, he seems like an important inclusion to make the deck competitive against any Ramp ASol decks, as most of the earlier dragons don't have enough attack to overcome the regenerating trolls.
FYI, I've seen 2 different players hit top ranks using the above decklist.
This is the Dragon deck I’ve been running. It has actually been very viable on in ranked competition, at least at my rank level. And it’s really fun to play too.
I use more challenger units, but also a unit that give my dragon challenger. This means I have more control over my attacks, and let’s me keep my dragons around long enough to grow huge
You had a sweet (but missed) opportunity to call your deck "Tenacious D" lol

Okay those are both kinda the same List and I played couple of matches against it: i lost 1 out 5 matches or sth like that. The moment it gets rolling i already have their nexus burning or at least sejuani ready to level up and end these dragon player's career. Its maybe not just a gimmic but not strong enough to keep me back :)
I’ve found that with the deck I use, you can have scenarios where, as the dragons, you get knocked down bellow half health; but still pull out a pretty clear win
I know Spacey Sketcher is OP as every targon deck ever uses it almost, but i have no idea how to use it. In this particular deck, what do you discard? And what do you aim to invoke? The snake? Double stun for an attack turn?
I'll boop you
I never use spacey sketcher, just because I’m not a fan of the discard factor
As always it depends on your deck, matchup your situation...
For example a great Evergreen to fetch for is the 0 mana 2/1 challenger but it is not always right to pull it.
About the what to discard question. That card that you are eighter unable to use for very long or that you simply don't need right now.
In the end you need experience to make the right decisions with the sketcher and no guide can solve something as complex as situational decisions
In the end : practice makes perfect, or being draven
Is Herald of Dragons even worth using even in a dragon focused deck? It feels like you waste your turn 2 to get a dragon a turn earlier. And if you wait to cast it later it defeats the purpose.
I would say so. It is really nice being able to pull 4 and 5 cost dragons on round 3 and
I don't like Herald of Dragons, but I have been begrudgingly including her. A lot of the 3-drops I'm running are spells (Dragon's Clutch, Prismatic Barrier, Hush, etc.), but the deck is a tempo deck, and missing a unit on turn 3 can feel bad in matches against faster decks. Since she makes it possible to curve into Whiteflame Protector on 3 and one of your 5-drop dragons on 4, she has made the cut. (Worth noting that Whiteflame Protector on 3 is probably the best play this deck can make - it's like a pre-nerf Loyal Badgerbear that can grow over time.)
That said, she is a terrible top-deck in the late game, and she's easily killed. Depending on how you build the deck, you might be able to leverage Mobilize for mostly the same impact. I think that has much the same problem, though, where it's good on turn 2 after you skipped turn 1, but kind of pointless in the late game. Alternatively, maybe you just run decent 3-drops and plan to curve out a little slower.
Think of her like exchanging the worst card in your hand for something more practical. Kind of like a mid-game mulligan. Usually you'll want to pick something you'll use right away, but on occasion you'll want to save Equinox or Crescent Strike until end game. The Messenger is probably the "default" choice, but The Serpent and The Trickster are usually pretty good too. The less reliable choices are Moonsilver, The Charger, and Moonglow : while each can be excellent in certain situations, they tend to be much less impactful in general than the other 5.
