The Curator was a cool build-around draw engine, and this seems to be much the same kind of card. All in all, I'm excited for it.
Hmm not the greatest of stats for it's cost. Reminds me of The Curator, except Ringmaster Whatley is worse so far. Depends on what kind of insane Pirate, Dragon and mech were going to get. At the very least it draws you Deathwing, Mad Aspect, Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, Scrap Golem or Tomb Warden. We don't really have a good pirate yet.... And it seems like Ringmaster Whatley is supposed to go in some kind of N'Zoth, God of the Deep deck, so i guess control warrior? Which means we are probably going to get some kind of BIG rush or taunt pirate, i'm guessing.
Standard: Probably control warrior with N'Zoth, God of the Deep package, maybe even Y'Shaarj, the Defiler package if warrior gets some good corrupt cards.
Wild: I honestly don't see this getting that much play. What kind of warrior deck even wants this? Maybe ODD Warrior, but that's only if we get some good ODD costed cards to pull. (Best things it can pull i guess are Zilliax or Dyn-o-matic, Kobold Stickyfinger if you run it against Kingsbane rogue, and either Alexstrasza for support in OTK Silas Darkmoon ODD Warrior, or Dragonqueen Alexstrasza if your playing highlander...?) Can't think of any other deck wanting this besides ODD Warrior.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
This card seems good. You definitely play this in the wild gala warrior I think because that deck has a few flex spots and it runs key dragons (scion), mechs (zilliax, sometimes clockwork goblin) and some cheap pirates. Theres probably some other kinds of wild decks that would run this.
In standard i'm not as sure. Going to depend on some of the upcoming cards. Any card that tutors skipper in standard is good, and you can always slap deathwing in a deck especially if you're tutoring it. I'm not sure about mechs but skybarge is a mech and getting that plus the pirate to activate it seems like something. Lot of random mechs for warrior that might find their way into this deck.
We're probably topping this deck off with the new N'zoth. too bag kargath prime isn't a demon, lul. i'm pretty interested in this warrior deck and hope it's a thing.
Curator reflavored for Warriors, nice. Plenty of good defensive mechs that this can curve into, putting in a generic late-game dragon like Deathwing, Mad Aspect or [Hearthstone Card (Dragonqueen Alextrasza) Not Found] is easy enough, but getting a good mid-late game pirate might be a tad trickier. There's potentially Captain Greenskin or the one that gets a weapon back, but I don't think those make the cut in N'zoth versions of this deck.
The Curator was good because it had board impact with Taunt, this is not it...

Strangely enough I love this for my Highlander control warrior.
So I had this epiphany while writing up the Ringmasters Baton:
You make your deck have cards like Evasive Drakonid, Dread Corsair, and Tomb Warden, use Whately to draw them, and Armagedillo to buff them on curve. And then you use this to add extra value for a menagerie taunt deck.
And you throw in N'zoth so you summon them again for a big wall.
You would just have to be careful about what minions you make your deck out of, so that N'zoth doesn't resurrect the wrong minion, since a deck like that would also run the additional taunt generating cards.
Seems like a good include if you run a N'zoth deck
Not sold on the card yet as the existing synergies between the tribes are little to none. But at least it'll offer some different deckbuilding ideas for sure.
I love that menagerie theme.
That card is strong, not necesary for menagerie/n'zoth decks, can be just a good tutor late cards.
By The Holy Light!
Tutor effects are always somewhat OP. This could be a 2/5 and people would still play it.
This feels like it could be good for Arena because of the randomness of the minions you get, but I'm feeling lackluster
This card can tutor out Risky Skipper and Scion of Ruin for Galakrond Warrior, missing out on only a midrange-y mech that can help the archetype to make a respectable midrange deck. All while having a The Curator vibe which I absolutely love.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
One of warrior's only draw cards that doesn't require setup on board, but I think that this is a little fiddly to work into any control warrior lists because Acolyte of Pain is such a good draw engine. Very interesting as a tutor though. Guaranteed risky skipper for board clear + two other cards you might want.
Definite maybe.
This post is discussing the wild format.
What a dapper worgen at the Darkmoon Faire! At least he gets one card to support him in the weapon in the same reveal.
The Curator is one of my favorite legendaries, so I am glad to see his reincarnation in this card. 5 mana draw 3 isn't terrible, and when it comes with a body attached and you know ahead of time what cards you are drawing, it becomes pretty good. The main question is whether or not you will have a dragon, mech, and pirate that you actually want to draw.
There are plenty of good dragons in standard and wild, so I don't think it will be difficult to fulfill that requirement. There are also plenty of good pirates such as Captain Greenskin, Sky Raider, and Risky Skipper. The only tribe that may be awkward to include is mechs. I guess there is Skybarge which works with your pirate. Or Scrap Golem if you are playing control. Or if you want to play this guy in Bomb Warrior then there is Clockwork Goblin. Other than those though there aren't a whole lot of good mechs in standard.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
This type of support is really strange since Mechs, Dragons, and Pirates have basically no synergistic overlap with each other outside of simply being 3 separate Warrior archetypes that have been supported on and off over the years. I guess that's just the price when you run menagerie-style decks.
But it's hard to imagine this card being bad since it's a 5 mana 3/5 that draws 3 cards, and The Curator was a decent card in these decks. If Menagerie Warrior takes off, this will no doubt be a very strong part of the deck.
I'm excited for the possibilities of Menagerie Warrior. This plus the new N'Zoth are already making it playable.

It draws 3 cards, on turn 5 when its not yet so dangerous, and its a 3/5, not really an insignificant statline. If there any reason why warrior wouldn't play this card in some capacity?
Even if this card does nothing more than draw your Deathwing, Mad Aspect, that's still quite significant.
But obviously with this card we're looking at a more midrange choice for warrior. Which honestly, fits in nicely with cards like yshaarj or nzoth as a finisher. maybe we'll also see another cthun warrior, with the amount of draw we're seeing right now.
The Curator was my first thought.
I think this will definitely see play as a draw engine or a tutor for specific cards.
His main qualification is that he'll work with anyone. Or anything... but not Murlocs or Beasts ...
Pretty selective for a menagerie ...
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Oooo, I was to get theorycrafting with this card right away! With Boom Squad and N'Zoth, God of the Deep, super keen on what a warrior menagerie deck will look like
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Looks like Menagerie is going to be a thing - seems decent at the first glance - but i think we will have to wait and see more of the Menagerie Stuff.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Maybe a wild zoo warrior will be a meme semi playable thing
yeah menagerie warrior is a thing
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
Personally I hate this because I got it as my free legendary and I don't play warrior especially not menagerie warrior. But I guess with the support it has this could be semi useful tutoring
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Worse The Curator for Standard.
The Curator for 2 mana less and drawing more relevant minion types for the class is great. Considering how we now have N'Zoth, God of the Deep and Circus Amalgam to help enable Whatley, I think this will definitely find a deck in Warrior. I've found room for Whatley in a N'Zoth Galakrond Warrior that I'm excited about.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Strong draw engine for Menagerie, or for tutored draws in a control warrior (Deathwing, Sword Eater, Dragonqueen Alex, Tomb Warder, Greenskin). Good safe craft.

If I open this guy up I'll definitely be trying him out - I love a good direction setting card, and Warrior certainly has those this expansion. Mostly I just want to know what we're calling it - I'm partial to Whatley Warrior for the alliteration, but Ringmaster Warrior is a tad more generic if they keep updating it. Feels different enough from Menagerie that it needs its own name.
Welcome to the site!
Reminds me of The Curator. This will definitely see play! Tutors three targeted cards and will be a centerpiece of Menagerie Warrior.
Good draw card for warrior, just unsure on the pirate one
All hail the banshee queen.
You already run these types in Galakrond, so it's just a good tutor, if a little understatted.
Draw Risky Skipper, Deathwing Mad Aspect, and... can't think of a Mech, but already that makes Whatley considerable for Control Warrior.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
So you run this + the weapon + N'Zoth? I don't know, the rush option seems much cooler and more fun.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
It's fine. Draws a lot of cards and has a body attached to it. Enables handbuffs with the baton, lets Tempo Menagerie Warrior play on tempo without worrying about running out of gas. My guess is this makes it into a lot of decks at first, then disappears about two weeks into the expansion.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Decent stats and very nice draw, likely to make menagerie work
Ok, question regarding Amalgams: does Whatley search first for minions that are just one type, then look for amalgams? Or does he just grab one of each, meaning you could draw fewer cards if, say for example, you only have one pirate in your deck and he draws an amalgam instead?
Same question for N'Zoth, God of the Deep.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
I do believe that for all interactions in this game regarding those situations, it targets non amalgams first, than amalgams
