Looking for answers about BG match

So simple story really I had a great board in battlegrounds today but I was cheated out of first place not by cheesy divine poison or anything but by the game literally not letting me even fight for first.

For context I had (69/72) cave hydra, (48/44) scallywag, two gold mini rags (54/55) and (34/37) accordingly, (6/10) amalgam on, (59/61) amalgamate I stole from the curator at the start and a (46/127) rock guy.

So I was Rafaam with this strong board with 2 foes left I beat one guy and then the game ended with Al'akir still alive. The game did go on for some time so maybe we just hit the turn cap or something because it lasted long enough for me to get two tier six prizes (all that glitters which was used on mini rag and throw the bone which was used on hydra).

So I'm just trying to wrap my head around why I didn't get a final fight for first with Al'akir anyone have any ideas?

It must be a new bug, I just had the same thing happen to me and came to look for answers. I was al'akir in second and my opponent was flurgl in first: everyone else dead and it was the turn before we got the last tier of treasure ... game just ended and gave me second place no animations even though i had a plenty good board and didn't see anything play-out.

Either the game is ending early and taking your current place, or the server finishes the game before your device (i'm on mobile) can catch up with all the animations so it just ends. I didn't verse that player at all so I had no idea what his board state was like to know if i'd have lost or anything.
