Pity Timer Broken

I have been opening on average 2 packs a day for about a month now playing Arena without a single legendary. Often I open more.
Cant help but feel they gave out more gold but passive agressively lowered the drop rate of them to stick it to us.
No, I have no proof of this but I've been playing this game for a while now and have a good feel of when one is around the corner. I've certainly opened more than 40.
I'm sure most of you will write this off as whining and am just seeing if anyone else is feeling the same way.

One way to make sure you aren't miscounting: Make a Google Sheet to track how many packs you open. It's a little tedious but you just go in and update how many you've opened without getting a legendary each time you open some packs. I started doing it a while back to try and be more efficient with my gold, and while I have had some go WAY too close to 40, I've never tracked it going over that.
And as a side note, my personal experience this expansion has been pretty good with legendry drop rate. Not trying to brag I'm just saying I haven't personally had any issues, or even noticed any sort of lower rate.
One last thought: Did you buy the mini set bundle? If you're absolutely positive you are over 40 packs without a legendary and you bought that, could it have bugged your timer and reset it? I feel like that's not likely, but... maybe?
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
I didn't.

Only one way to make sure, that is to record all your packs. Once I had as far as 39 packs just to get another Legendary. But it was bad luck and good luck altogether, since the next 5 packs reward me with another 2 legendaries.
So far, no one really goes above pity timer, otherwise it would've reported, or at least shown up as reddit thread or something.
EDIT. Agree with what Thonson said.
Knowledge is Power
If you had recorded it, you can make an argument directly with blizz, since its widely acknowledged that there is a pity timer for legendaries at 40 packs. And if they simply ignore your ticket, you can bring it to reddit and see if there's other players with the same problem. If the uproar is big enough, then something might just happen.
Its not really about us berating your post, its really about showing others the proper evidence. Otherwise, how'd anyone, including yourself, can be absolutely sure you've opened up 40 of the same packs without any legendaries.
Just my luck it's only happening to me then. Probably bc I lost my job am broke and can't afford their bundles this time around.....

I'm sure it doesn't make you feel better, but there's just no way it broke for exactly one person. That's not how computers work. (Also, there's no such thing as luck in a long-term sense or the universe working against you.)
More likely is that you've never gotten anywhere close to the 40 mark before, so your "feeling," based on past experience, is expecting the legendary much sooner than the actual pity timer. The average drop happens around pack 20, so that is probably when your "feeling" starts to kick in.
You'd be surprised. Computers make mistakes and there's always exceptions. I've opened a few more packs since posting this, still no L.

btw the pity timer apply only to same kind of packs. If you opened 20 Arena pack (latest expansions) and 20 Brawl Packs (classic) this count only for 20 packs (twice) and you need 20 more of each type to be sure to have 1+1 Legendary
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
Computers don't make mistakes unless they're malfunctioning. I've seen weird errors happen where only 1 byte of a file is corrupt or only 1 section at the end of a ram stick is bad, and weird inconsistencies start to happen, but generally you'll get a crash or failure to boot/run before anything.
Now, the humans that program computers... They make mistakes... A lot of mistakes... It's why bugs and glitches still exist...
I speak from experience, debugging is a murder mystery where you are simultaneously the detective, suspect, and victim
Yes, I'm talking about DF packs since the only packs I open are from Arena. There's no way I can convince you guys but I'm certain of it.
On a separate note I would really like it if whenever you spend money on this game they increased the rate of opening premium cards for that expansion. It's such a bad dealing paying $80 for like 4 legendaries (and chances are only one is playable...)

I am sorry, but you can't just say "the pack opening system is broken. I can't prove it, but trust me. I know I've opened more than 40 packs because I feel like I have" and expect people to actually believe you.
It is far more likely that you are misremembering or miscounting. The human mind is a fickle thing, computers? Not so much.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Many record their pack openings via Pack Tracker or similar. If it reassures you a broken pity timer would be proven and all over reddit.
Without unbiased recording of data, it's easy to feel like it's been more than 40 packs since your last legendary especially if they are not opened all at once.
I think it's almost certain you have made an error.
All generalizations are false.
I would recommend doing this. I started doing this during AoO. (Alternatively, I think there also an decktracker plug-in to do the logging automatically to a CSV but I haven't bothered to try).
It really helps to get over recency bias and confirmation bias when you have access to irrefutable data. I can confirm using this that I have never gone over 40 for legendaries and never over 10 for epics. I have reached timer 34, 34, and 38 (consecutively) during the SA expansion so there are dry spells where RNG can get really bad.
Also, was just thinking, I think Firestone deck tracker has a feature that will track your pity timers. If you download it now it won't show accurate numbers until you open a legendary, unless you have never opened a pack of a certain set, or if your last pack opened for a certain set contained a legendary. Lastly, Firestone must be running when you open packs to track your pity timers.
I don't use Firestone because I just preferred to stick with HDT, but this was one cool feature that I wish HDT would incorporate for users.

Yeah, Firestone has a feature that tracks the packs you've opened and counts down to your pity timer for epics and legendaries. Unfortunately it only starts counting from after you've installed it.
And no, computers don't magically stop functioning for one person and nobody else. Computers don't make mistakes and there are no exceptions, people make mistakes. The computer does exactly what it is told to do and it follows through. The code of a game doesn't change unless you yourself messed with the game files. The only way something like this could have made through is if there was a patch recently that had an error in it that caused this bug. If there genuinely is a mistake in the game's code, then everyone would be experiencing this bug, because that's how server-side patches work. The fact that nobody else seems to be experiencing this indicates it is not a server-side issue.
Therefore the only other possibility is that it's a client-side issue, meaning your own computer is acting up. Either you've messed with the game files or your computer has. A simple solution is to just fix the game files from the Battle.net app, or just try restarting your computer. If neither of these work, then it's not a client-side issue.
If you had tracked your packs and shown proof that you've opened more than 40, then this becomes much more believable. But currently, nobody else has this issue, so you're most likely just remembering wrong.
