drop on youtube?

I logged in, linked the account and "watched" 4 hours ... but no drops.

Is there any action to be done to claim the drops? tks

I read somewhere that you could have to wait 48 hour before the drop is claimed.

Terms and conditions reads that the drops will be in within 48 hours.

But the fact that twitch has recently upgraded the ways drops work, and that even before this update we can actually get our packs immediately, shows how far they are compared to the cro-magnon that is youtube streaming.

There seems to be no way of knowing for how long we've watched the stream ... and there's no notification of winning a pack either !!

In addition, the packs can take up to 48 hours to be delivered ...

My God, how do we know then if we have already met the requirements to receive the packs? Are we supposed to have faith that YouTube has counted our watching hours correctly and pray that in a couple of days we get something by chance?

I honestly prefer Twitch to YouTube ...

For this kind of events Twitch > Youtube.

The problem is that it is not possible to know if YouTube has correctly counted the hours we have been watching ...

For example, I have also been watching the streaming for 6 hours ... however, I don't know if YouTube has taken note of that time or not.

Also, is it possible for YouTube to know if we are actually watching the streaming in person? We can not trust ... because maybe if we have the streaming in a background window, YouTube is not counting any watching time at all ...

Another danger is what happened to me this morning: streaming suffered a micro cut for a moment due to a problem with my connection and, without my realizing it, the streaming automatically went from playing it "live" to "recorded/delayed" (so that I would not have any interruption during the course of the game and I would not miss anything), obviously not computing any time from that moment on (since if we are not watching the streaming on live, YouTube do not register any watching time)

Yeah,  no packs here yet too, I guess we need to wait till Monday to be sure. If someone gets their packs, post here, so we can confirm.

It's 48h since I started to watch and still no packs ... let's wait 48 hours from the "supposed" award ... but I have very little expectations ...

I am starting to think this thing is a scam to keep people watching the maximum amount as people dont know how much time youtube counted as "watched". youtube dont show this info on purpose, so people would watch more, and therefore more ad revenue.

Dont get me wrong, I still think the system would work somehow and we will get our packs. I just think that the system been made "flawed" intentionally.

It's still funny that somehow, even with the promise of drops, the viewer total in YT is still very little. I guess they need to learn this the hard way that Twitch is still a better platform for tournament games.

I’m sure they’ve already learned that, but they need to wait until their contract with YT expires to make a change

three days after the watch ... no packs. It was a joke !

If nobody gets any packs it'll reflect badly on both blizzard and YouTube. Unfortunately I highly doubt anything will happen ☹️

We will get packs, it's just they'll have to grant them manually as opposed to how it worked on Twitch.

That is, they'll collate the data and run a script against their database to grant the packs to us.  Should be next few days.

Like everyone I miss twitch - so much better than YT.

48 hours have passed but I still haven't received the two packs... :-)

Still nothing on my EU account despite having watched 2x8 hours (and double-checked account settings on both days). I had fun watching btw

Just logged in (EU, after the new patch) and 2 packs were granted from outside of the game (even got a playable epic in Mo'arg Artificer). So they finally arrived for me.

My NA account received the 2 packs after I updated to new patch.

I got my 2 packs too after the new patch (EU), 5 rares, one of it golden.

Just opened an Al'ar from the first of two packs.

I watched 4 hours with Youtube on a background Chrome tab, muted (because it worked with Twitch), I got nothing. When I looked at the tab occasionally, the video jumped from the last frame to the current broadcast, which was already suspicious.  Not having a way to check our progress really sucks.

I think it's safe to say everyone got their packs (for those who watched GMs ofc)

Definitely has more cons compared to twitch drops, but I don't think YouTube has really put much focus on streaming drops yet. Time will tell

I watched the Asian on day 1 week 1 and did not get any packs yet... Thinking it ddid not count for some reason... Also I actually watch it on full screen even.

Not going to complain as I did not watch it just for the drops but it kinda sucks

No packs for me... Don't really know what I did wrong, will try again tomorrow.

I'm no expert myself, but I got my packs, so here's a few tips for those who may have watched but didn't get anything;

- Make sure your account is signed in, and connected to your battlenet ID

- Drops only work on livestreams. Watching reruns don't count.

- There's this diamond next to the like and dislike buttons. This will indicate that there are drops, and when you scroll over to it, it should read 'connected', signalling that it is connected to an account

- Ive searched but cannot find any info on what happens when you minimize the window, mute youtube (itself, and not the website), or otherwise leaving it inactive on your browser tab. I think its fairly safe to assume that something might happen so the best thing is to mute the website (if youre not actively watching), leave it maximized (or active, if you prefer) and go back to it every once a while.

Kinda complicated in comparison with Twitch don't you think?

And yes, I did check my settings. twice. It still says connected until now.
yes, I watched 5-6 hours live stream because the chat is also live when I joined.
But no, I didn't watch it on focused mode. I leave it hanging in the back muted while playing.

Still no drops. this makes me feel very discouraged to watch YT streams anymore.

I followed dapperdogs checklist and this time it worked for me. I'm a few hours into the stream and have already got my first pack.

Just to be on the safe side, always make sure you are watching "Live" (The circle needs to be red.)

Small lags can occur that delay you 5 secs and you are no longer watching "Live". So keep checking from time to time if you have the stream muted.

Okay, I got the drops after 4 hours. So that's some progress, well done youtube.

Now please for the love of god have some sense and implement the drop timer please.

Is that for the new weekend drops @dapperdog? If that's the case I might as well watch the full 4 hours now(areadly 2 hours in).

Yeah, seems to be working a lot better this week. I got this week's two free packs immediately after watching for four hours. Now all I've got to do is work out how I'm gonna make use of my shiny new Beastmaster Leoroxx

Yup, I just got my 1st pack within around maybe 15 mins of watching 2 hours.

Yup. According to this:

• Week 1: Two Year of the Phoenix Packs
• Weeks 2-7: Two Year of the Phoenix Packs
• Playoffs: Two Forged in the Barrens Packs

anyone who got their two packs for this weekend already, the next drops will be on June 4-6.

Did someone get the drops for the Masters Tour? They said it could take up to 48 hours. I thought the drops come with the patch, but they did not. 48 hours are over now.

Strange! I made sure I'm connected (and can confirm, because my browser is still using my account). After the first day I had one Phoenix pack which I did not know where it was from. There was no "outside of the game"-message. I thought it was the yt package and I didn't see a message because all the "ladder reset messages" had priority. On the other side I thought it may be that I didn't open the last brawl pack. So I made sure that I watched 4+ hours after this. But no pack.

One thing to mention: I have to "channels" on yt. Maybe it's import which one I use?

edit: damn! It is. Connected Apps are only tied to one of them. I used the wrong one.

Hey, I'm also still waiting for my packs. Can you explain to me what you mean with channels on yt?

You can use multiple channels or subaccounts under one login. For example I used my google mail account to login into Youtube. But this one uses my real name ("private account"). So I was able to create a channel and could give me a nickname for that, so that I don't upload videos with my rn ("public account"). When I login I can choose between both accounts and later switch between them via menu. Only the private account could be linked with battle.net.

I watched the event while I was logged in as the public account.
