Really Annoyed By Reveals

Submitted 3 years, 5 months ago by

I'm hoping this falls on the right eyes. I really hate how reveal season works. Dropping 80 cards on us like this really stinks. I for one really enjoy the slow drip of cards because it gives me something really exciting to watch during meals and enjoy hearing each streamers take on them.

When it's all dumped like this it takes all of the magic out of it. It's a bunch of new cards that hit the brain as less special because there's too much coming at it too fast

I would prefer it greatly being released evenly e.g. 4 cards a day over the course of a month. This would add to the fun of the anticipation and the spectacle of talking about cards leading up to the actual release

Why do they sabotage their game like this?

I'm not sure if you're aware but these aren't exactly regular circumstances.

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

Considering the site you're posting this on, one would think you know exactly why the reveal season has been so janky, given that it's been plastered all over the front page.

You realize there was a lawsuit going on right?

That sorta thing kinda takes precedence over card reveals.

Of course I realize that. But they do it every time also. Did you forget that?

I think your definition of sabotage needs some reworking. Although, if you think you're the center of the universe, then I suppose anything that isn't exactly to your liking is tantamount to treason or something.

For me, I don't need to have 230some cards released 4 per day, which would end up taking nearly 2 months, and would actually find that pretty annoying. In fact, I wouldn't mind at all if they only showed half the pool before release, and canceled all those "theorycraft" streams that go a long way to killing off general creativity in the early days.

In general I agree that the final dump is a bit much. I would like it if they revealed maybe 10-15 fewer cards at the end, and extended the reveal period by just a few days.

I like having the big live stream with lots of reveals, but the additional card dump at the end of the stream could be smaller. It's not really a big deal but I wouldn't mind having fewer cards dropped on us at once.

Revealing cards should start the moment the expansion releases.
That's how it should work instead of all the theorycrafting and blahblah before it's even released. Gives lots more fun and we would see more variation in decks cause people have to make decks themselves and not everyone playing the same deck from the start.
But hey...that's my ow opinion :)

There are pros and cons. I wasn't super engaged with the card reveals back in 2014, so I accidentally went into GvG like that, and it was indeed great. But even if everyone liked that approach (which they don't), a large part of HS's revenue comes from pre-orders so they are never going to hide everything until release.

I think it would be kind of cool to have the entire expansion a mystery until it was released. But sadly that will never happen because, as AngryShuckie mentioned, they would lose tons of revenue from pre-orders and the hype would be significantly lower.

I actually hate the slow trickle that lasts an entire month.

I say hold everything until exactly one week before launch, then reveal the whole thing. It's not like any amount of analysis matters until you can see the full set, and you don't need more than a week to theorycraft and get hyped.
