Its certainly very strong in any occasion as long as you have a deathrattle ready. But since hunter doesn't have something like Play Dead, your opponent can theoretically just ignore your deathrattle cards and have this be a dead card in hand.
Definitely a card we'll be seeing one way or another in the next year, there's no doubt of this in my mind.
So on paper this is really strong if you have a decent DR pop before turn 4. The only one around currently is Nerubian Egg, which has no other support, so that falls flat.
There are also no relevant big deathrattles as of now. Darkmoon Tonk seems too slow and the payoff isn't even that great. Would have been a really sick card last year with Nine LIves still around, but right now it's just pointless outside of Duels.
The one thing that could possibly work is the Rodent Nest combo, but even that...how does that win you games? Just spam Rats until your opponent gets bored and leaves?
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I don't recall deathrattle Hunter being a thing lately, but this card seems like it would be good if that archetype returns.
There is 0 chance this will never see play it's just a question of whether it will now. I love it because it makes you want to try deathrattle hunter again in wild
