Edwin, Defias Kingpin won't come down as early as Edwin VanCleef, but has Gadgetzan Auctioneer built in which can make for some nutty miracles.

Edwin, Defias Kingpin seems interesting. He's a interesting draw engine that can leave a big body behind afterwards. But the problem is that as a draw option Edwin, Defias Kingpin probably needs to draw a lot of 0-2 cost cards at most, and it competes with Field Contact as a "draw engine".

Edwin, Defias Kingpins Big body unfortunately doesn't mean anything these days, because that just gives Spell mage a target to freeze over and over, and it's too slow against Questline warrior. (Especially now that they got Mr. Smite. WTF blizz.)

Oh and another BIG problem for Edwin, Defias Kingpin: It costs 4 mana. This means that Edwin, Defias Kingpin can't be used alongside Kazakus, Golem Shaper, which is REALLY BAD for Edwin, Defias Kingpin. After all i'm pretty sure Kazakus > Edwin. (Maybe even Kazakus > Edwin AND Scabbs combined.)

I'm so sad that the new Edwin is such a dissapointing card, maybe their compensating for the fact that Edwin VanCleef avoided HOFs for so long, and scammed so many wins by making his new version bad? That seems like the only explanation to me. Honestly i feel like Edwin, Defias Kingpin would have been so much better at 3 mana.

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

Competes with Kazakus, which makes it really questionable as of now (might change if Rogue keeps getting good 4-drops). Consistency is also an issue, since you probably can't build your deck to guarantee this effect proccing multiple times.

That being said, a self-containted Auctioneer that comes with fat stacks if you get the train rolling is nothing to be laughed at. Hell, in certain matchups you can probably get away with Shadowstepping him on turn 4 and then popping off on the next one.

I really like that this clearly isn't meant to be some degenerate combo tool but just a classic mid-game powerplay. I could see him in Quest Rogue if the deck was able to run a lower curve (which would require more SI:7 cards). I feel like he'd be really sick with Scabbs if you can somehow set it up.

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

This Edwin draws one card at very least, so if you're not that interested in the stats, at very least he does draw you cards, and depending on the deck you could end up with a good 2-3 cards extra while making up a giant at around turn 5-6. That's significantly worse than the original Edwin VanCleef, but still good in its own right.

In the right deck this can easily be an 8/8 around turn 4, but I wouldn't bet on seeing it too often. One thing is for sure, it can never exist in the current garrote rogue, and playing this means you're 50/50-ing your kazakus, or buming out kazakus from the deck entirely which may not be the smart move to make.

Updated from the old one, but with the way that the meta has been going... it is going to be able to get REALLY big really quick

This kind of looks like a reprint of Edwin Vancleef, except you would start the combo with this one, and it also draws you cards to fuel it. Unfortunately, you have to play the card you drew, even if you have something you could actually afford in your hand. I'm not sure how big you can expect him to get, maybe +4/+4 or +6/+6 if you play him at 10 mana.

Well not sure this will find it's place in the meta right now because most of the games are pretty fast and therefor i think this one could be to slow - maybe after the next expansion ...

still a nice card but to slow for the meta now!

Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
