Well it's definitely got the Pirate and stealth flavor but I honestly don't see what kind of rogue deck would want this card. It's 5 mana which is a high price for rogue, even if the Sunken Vessel is a Cast When Drawn spell.
It's playable and may see some experimentation, definitely not OP for an epic
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
The power of this card depends solely on whether there's enough support for pirates that you'd go to all lengths to play this card at all. While there is combo potential (with Mr. Smite) not to mention that the pirates are stealthed, its still too slow and doesn't protect rogue from dying. Meaning, that if the payoff doesn't kill the opponent consistently after this is played, then what's the point? Might as well just play contact garrote rogue instead.
In fact that's the real kicker. So far we havent seen much support for pirates in rogue, and if the trend continues, I can't see why anyone would play anything else other than what is currently established (quest, garotte, thief rogue etc.). But there's still one legendary, so hope still stands.
turn 5 Azsharan Vessel + turn 6 Mr. Smite can do quite a bit of damage, especially if you somehow have a way to dredge it up the following turn. Also their really pushing Pirate Rogue, and we still haven't seen the new Captain Hooktusk card. (She is in the expansion trailer, so we know she has to be a card.) So i bet this might have some place in that deck. Also remember that IF Preparation is still in standard, it's a 3 mana "summon 2 3/3s with stealth", which is very good. Always remember that most rogue spells are balance with Preparation in mind.
Oh and the vessel is cast when drawn, which is a lot better. Basicly turns a dredge card into a "summon 2 3/3s with stealth, and draw a card". We haven't seen any rogue dredge cards yet, so who knows. Maybe rogue will get a super strong dredge card, just like druid with Aquatic Form.
Edit: Now that i think about it, Cannon Barrage would fit a lot with Azsharan Vessel I kinda hope it's in the core set.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
There has to be some upcoming synergy with Pirates on the board because otherwise the steatlh on these just seems random.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I'm not seeing the value of this in the current meta. In wild, there is potential, but not to outdo the current Wild decks that utilize tokens
This is what I'm thinking too. We have some pirates in rogue, but nothing yet telling us how the deck will work, and there's a good bet Hooktusk will give us the answer. Fortunately she's the next reveal, judging by the thumbnail image being the anchor she wears on her belt (which means Blizzard chose an... interesting part of her to use. She seems flirty enough that I'm sure she won't mind :P)
Well i guess with the new Hooktusk this is gonna be better than expected. Pirate Rogue seems to be a thing next expansion!
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
I'm not seeing this being that good unless Rogue has some strong pirate synergy. The pirates have stealth, which should give you some more turns to draw that synergy, so there's that. Surely Rogue gets its own dredge card as well.
If we're playing Pirate Rogue, then I guess we're playing Pirate Rogue. Considering that Tuskarrrr Trawler is a Pirate, comboing this with the Trawler to Dredge the Sunken Vessel is a thing that you are allowed to do. Feels a bit slow for 5 mana, but if you really want Hooktusk active this isn't a terrible way to go about doing it.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
With Gone Fishin' I think a 4 mana turn of Prep into Azsharan Vessel into Fishin' to pull the Sunken Vessel immediately will a VERY common play.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Reading this card effect got me wondering how many new pirates were coming to standard for 2022; there's is a few new addition, for sure, but I'm still failing to see how rogue would want to spend their turn 5 on this
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Quite a strong card when paired with the 4 cost Naga that makes it cost 0. Rogues can also Dredge for the Sunken Ship, so it's actually pretty good!
