Warrior can tutor weapons and dredge with Pirates. This is really good in a tempo matchup. Quest Pirate Warrior might just not be trash in Standard.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
This is enough to give you hives. That Sunken Trident when dredged will be insanely irritating to aggro decks in the mid range if they cannot dominate outright
The first half is basically Fiery War Axe, but the second half--if you can tutor it--is really good, essentially a cheaper Quel'Delar. So...it's pretty strong in a deck that knows how to get the Sunken Trident out of their deck and into the game. Probably too slow for an aggro deck, but a solid midrange deck or control could mess around with it.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
This weapon is honestly not good.
The first half is practically just a vanilla 3/2 weapon for 3, which does nothing whatsoever special. The 2nd part does an 2 damage AoE to enemy minions, assuming you're able to dredge it up. The problem is twofold;
- The sunken weapon is unavailable until you pop this weapon. Which may or may not be possible on the following turn after this is equipped
- You have to dredge that sunken weapon and then pay 3 mana for it.
So the conditions of getting the sunken weapon is hard enough. The payoff is ludicrously weak even when it is dredged up. We're talking about a turn 5 play, with 2 mana left over to build up your own board.
The only way this card sees play is that theres literally no other weapon left and this card is the cheapest of the bunch. As Whetstone Hatchet has proven; even a useless but cheap weapon is better than no weapon at all, especially in quest pirate.
Cheaper Quel'Delar that only attacks minions but you have to first trigger a deathrattle AND dredge it up. I'm not sure about this card.
The only decks i can see running these weapons are: Control warrior and Control Raid the Docks warrior. But even then, you dont want to break the weapon with The Juggernaut so it has counter-synergy in Control questline warrior. Yeah i think only control warrior might use this. Also if this is supposed to make Lady Ashvane and Blackscale Brute worth it, than wow they failed at that... I still think we might see 1 more weapon, but it will need to be a lot better than this one.... Also we haven't seen the dredge card yet for warrior, but it would need to be INSANE in order to make this card look decent.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I don't believe we've seen any dredge cards for Warrior. There are a couple of Neutral options though. We'll still have to see what Dredge options Warrior gets to know how good this will be. The sunken token looks pretty powerful of course.
Very good weapon! Also works nicely with the new card that buffs weapons for example but also aggro decks like Pirate Warrior will use this!
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Nevermind the barnacles! A well-crafted weapon is eternally useful. Sunken Trident works just so perfectly with Obsidiansmith - it fits to a T
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Feels like Quest Pirate Warrior would still rather run Hatchet over this, and it's bit too convoluted to tutor out the Sunken version for Control Warrior to actually make an impact vs. Aggro.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Pretty crazy powercreep when compared to Fiery War Axe. This is the weapon you want to destroy with Forged in Flame for a neat 2 mana draw 3
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Pretty solid weapon, specially after the Deathrattle triggers. Quite a nice tool against aggro decks.
