This scares me beyond reason. 4-mana draw 2 is awful in any context even as a tutor...unless whatever you're tutoring will allow you to win the game really hard...and that is a very threatening image considering most of the combo stuff is rotating at this point.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I'm interested to see what kind of DH decks would use this; clearly it's a deck that wants to tutor specific minions, whether for a game ending combo or just a very powerful one. This could be really good to get Wayward Sage to guarantee mana discounts, or, if you're going really heavy on other minions, Sunken Defector. Or, you could just run a bunch of spells and use this to tutor Kazakusan.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Its a card you put into combo decks. In nearly every other deck, its just too slow as card draw.
Right out of the bat, you can easily slot this to tutor out Lady S'theno and Wayward Sage. And if you can play the sage immediately, then you've just guaranteed a discount on lady stheno which is quite scary.
Perhaps in quest dhunter, you can tutor out spell damage minions or just plain Persistent Peddler to finish off the quest even faster. The deck might play this just to draw 2, since it losts a good deal of its draw options.
4 mana draw 2 sounds HORRIBLE, but actually it's AMAZING. This tutors your 2 lowest cost MINIONS. This means that BIG DH can both tutor Vanndar Stormpike AND is able to theoretically run 2 4 mana minions. Imagine BIG DH but they can run both Vanndar Stormpike and another 4 drop like Kazakus, Golem Shaper which will both work after casting 1 Abyssal Depths. Of course that means only running 1 copy of Abyssal Depths though cuz kazakus... Maybe not the best example.
In Questline or some other DH deck you could tutor out other cards such as Lady S'theno and other mana cheaty cards, which sounds good as well.
This card will see a LOT of play in slower DH archetypes, and OTK DHs.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
This draw spell just screams big Demon or combo DH even though I have no idea what both archetypes will look like after rotation. This card will slot into decks that want to draw specific cards like the above mentions (Vanndar Stormpike and Lady S'theno). But ofc there will be more and more specific minions you'll want to draw as new expansions are released, so if Abyssal Depths is bad this expansion, it might be good in the next one.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
At first glance .... meh ... but the more i think about this card, the more i think this will see play. Maybe combo but this sound pretty good for Big Demons and maybe there are some OTK Shenanigans with the new Legendary that attacks after a spell so you could tutor this one ....
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
A very high premium on a a tutor, but very justified IMO. Especially if those tutored cards are the deck's wincon. Very good synergy with Vanndar Stormpike where it needs to be the cheapest card anyway. This will vastly improve the consistency of a big DH deck.
Of course, outside of decks built around it, drawing 2 for 4 is very inefficient.
DH has a plethora of good draw options, so it's really telling when they make this one over-costed for it's effect. Likely to make Vanndar tutoring not as strong, but there's not much Big DH cards left around after rotation... Unless Core Set...?
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
This could be pretty nice. Maybe in a deck with just a couple cheap minions that you want to tutor out. Or at least cheaper than the rest. Still, this is 4 mana, so you won't be playing those minions really early.
On one hand, tutoring is great x2, on the other ... (4) mana is rather expensive, on curve; in most cases, your turn 4 would be better used increasing board presence/pressure. Not too sure what to make of this, unless your 2 lowest cost minions are really worth it?
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
4 mana is way to expensive for draw in DH, I don't see any deck wanting to play that slow, even with tutored draw. Not even sure what you would want to draw with this, honestly.

Okay so now that I've seen the whole set I do not understand why this costs as much as it does. Would Vanndar DH be really such a massive problem?
Maybe it was toned down with future sets in mind...

Seems a bit too expensive for what it does, and it's a Shadow spell instead of Fel, so no Jace Darkweaver synergy. Doubt this will see any play, sadly.
