I'll be honest here; even if this was the only full clear in priest it'll still likely be snubbed.
Because at its core, its simply Shadow Word: Ruin in reverse, and costing one more incidentally. However, aggro games have gotten to the point where if your removal costs more than 4 you might as well just tap concede. Even warlock tends to struggle against faster games, but at least in that class there's plenty of cheap removal to stall, which priest does not have.
And then there's the upgrade. How on earth this is accomplished in such a way that it does not backfire on your own minions? Quest priest tends to play plenty of minions themselves, and this card eliminates them, making it a card you'll only ever play if youre behind, and for a deck with 80% minions in it, that's a major problem. And in pure control decks this card will rarely ever get infused, never mind being played.
Just play Lightbomb. Cost one more but does the job without fuss. Or Shadow Word: Ruin for big minions and condemn for smaller ones.
looks okay, but wouldn't see play in the current meta at all. Boards just don't get big enough this early. Whirlpool is better because it's more consistent and can't be played around.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
This is a pretty damn powerful board clear. Not so much the base version, but I don't think it will be very hard to infuse this. Not really sure how useful this will be though.
Priest decks with a number of tossable minions to the Infuse is going to be the difficult part for this. Most Aggro Priest decks only really worry about spot removal to enable their own minions to get it... making this card not the best choice. For control decks, getting enough minions on the board without sacrificing the integrity of your deck strategy JUST to fuel this Infuse isn't a good option.
This seems a little underwhelming .... i do not see the Infuse happen that often in Priest and therefor i do not see this beeing played in standard. Maybe if the Meta becomes hyper aggro you could pay this for early removal but thats the only way i see this working.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Kind of expensive if not infused, but I like that you have the option to play it uninfused if you have some biggish minions. Still, it's clunky, and there are better options that are not much more expensive, so 3 stars. A control deck might run it if it wants as many clears as it can get.
Hmm this is a interesting card. It seems like it's a worse Shadow Word: Ruin, but i think it has a niche in Questline priest. After all it costs 5 mana, and questline priest would probably like a 5 cost spell like this one. At least, i have played quite a bunch of questline priest recently.. and the 5 cost card is the card i'm personally stuck on the most.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
If you manage to infuse it, it will be a very powerful board clear, if not it's just ok for stopping aggro
A slightly more expensive Shadow Word: Horror, however that 3 attack vs 2 attack is already an important break point, as it can just nuke Rogue's Vessels for example. Sort of hard to envision a Priest deck that consistently gets this infused though.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Don't they (eventually) get tired of printing more and more removals & board clear for Priest?
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
A strong clearing tool, especially after the Infuse goes off. Probably worth running at least one copy of it.
