It's like the ultimate Shaman spell. It's got everything: Overload, elemental, Transform and elemental spell school. Only missing Windfury.
Pretty strong card, Schooling is still a staple so you'll never be hurting for a target, but even better you can reduce the cost of it to possibly cheat it out earlier than you reasonably should be and, perhaps even more excitingly, combo with various copying effects, but mainly Criminal Lineup. We're talking a legit combo finisher and that's not even accounting for what else we could put into a deck like this.
All of a sudden OVerload Shaman looks a lot better.

It was awful.
You'd have to respect a 5 mana Ragnaros the Firelord no matter the circumstances. In my opinion, even rag nowadays is no longer good enough to win games outright, but shaman needs as much help as it can get.
So what's the ideal usage of this card. Well, you can easily cheat it out with Jazz Bass along with Criminal Lineup or Cover Artist. You can just straight up just play it and get an 8/8 deal 8 damage for 5 mana. You can play this and Cold Storage to get another rag with no downside. Basically this card is just a solid card throughout
The only problem this card has is that it overloads you for 2, not a trivial amount. And that it needs a target. So you're not really playing this on 5, its more like turn 6, which substantially makes it worse. But its very likely you'll never be playing this on curve anyway - because its always going to be cheated out, or be combo-ed with something else.
Overall, this is the kind of cards shaman needs. The overload is a mere annoyance they have to accept.
Interesting way of bringing back Ragnaros the Firelord to Standard.
Rag is remembered for being a wonderful card but that was back in the day where everything was big and the game was much slower.
Count the minion as one mana and this works out to still be 8 mana. Its an underwhelming card on its own but sure if it works out to combo it fine

IF you are able to wipe their board or seriously hinder it when you cast this... then it's epic.
Okay, hear me out, the setup is we play Jazz Bass and play two Overload cards (this puts the discount to 3.) Before the pop off turn, break Jazz Bass and equip Carving Chisel. Then on 10 mana, swing Carving Chisel for the free totem, cast JIVE, INSECT (which costs 2 thanks to the setup discounts) on said totem, and then play Criminal Lineup on our Ragnaros.

Love the flavor of this legendary spell and I do hope it sees play coz who doesn't enjoy a good ol' Rag 🔥
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Would Ragnaros the Firelord be good enough these days for only 5 mana, or 4 after Inzah? To me the answer is... OBVIOUSLY YES! This card seems nuts, especially with the overload package, but this card doesn't even need the overload package. I feel like this will be a solid inclusion in almost every shaman deck for quite some time.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
It's effectively playing Ragnoras at a discounted price, for as long as you already had a minion on board - kinda scary!
