Pilgrimage through the Cosmos - A custom set with completely custom art!

Pilgrimage through the Cosmos is a 145 card custom expansion set within the Great Dark Beyond. Follow Velen and the Vindicaar in this alternate take on the journey from Azeroth to the ancestral homeworld of the Draenei, Argus.

Art for the set was created by me! It's not very good as I'm not much of an artist and each piece was created under a strict(ish) time limit. With that in mind, I think the custom art really ties the world together in a rather unique way. I began drawing for the set on November 5th, with most non-Legendary cards being limited to 20 minutes of work with Legendaries and special cards usually taking around 30.

With that preamble out of the way, here's the set! I hope you find the cards interesting, or at least have fun looking at the art!

I finally sat through the whole set and I wanted to congratulate you.

The decision to make your own art was a pretty bold (and, I'm sure, time consuming), but it gave you a lot of creative freedom and it shows.

The overall flavor is great. I like that you didn't over-rely on sci-fi tropes besides the mothership and instead chose to focus on astronomy and Warcraft lore, it really makes the expansion feel a lot more realistic. I must say I really liked the name/flavor of Red Giant and Tardigargantuan, among others.

Card effects are also pretty bold and insteresting while also not stepping outside class identity. The Curiosity keyword is also very cool and flavorful. It's a shame you didn't participate on the keyword comp we had last week, because it would've been a very strong contender IMHO.

I wanted to tell a story with the art and design of the set, an overabundance of tropes and references would've weakened that in this case. I still did slip in a few, Red Giant being one of the first tongue in cheek designs I made. Was definitely neat trying to find the balance between Hearthstone wackiness and serious world building.

I'll try and hop in on more card competitions, I usually see them and then get distracted with work or what have you.
