We're getting close to Path of Exile's ExileCon event which is taking place on July 29 & 30. There is going to be a large focus on the new game, Path of Exile 2, but we'll also get to hear more details on the upcoming new expansion (3.22) for Path of Exile, which should hold exiles over until 2 is ready.
To celebrate, and to get people tuning in, Grinding Gear Games has announced a round of Twitch Drops! Two previously available cosmetics will be dropping during the event:
- Watch one hour between 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Eastern on July 28 to earn the Heartseeker Portal.
- Watch for a total of four hours on any ExileCon stream during the weekend to earn the Raven Demon Wings.
The two cosmetics are a bit on the older side, making their debut over 3 years ago, but damn do they look great!

Nice set of MTX, though the time slot for the first drop is rather painful for Europe. I wonder if they're in any way related (lore-wise) to what they'll be showing off for POE2. I do recall corruption being a part of the sequel's story.
I also remember Bex or Chris Wilson saying POE1's next league (also being revealed at Exilecon) will make us go "goblin mode", and I'm not sure if that should be taken literally.
I'm super curious what the next league is going to be. Crucible is a bit of a snoozefest and I assumed that was dude to PoE2 dropping at ExileCon into beta, and they'd just forgo a new season.
It sounds like Beta is a bit of a ways away though since promotional stuff for upcoming cons (ExileCon, Gamescom, and I believe a PAX event) says people can play PoE 2 at the show floor but the wording seemed like it would be the only real opportunity to play it, which puts us at least a few months away from a real public beta.
Which means at least one more full season for PoE1.
I think we're looking at 2024 for a 'full' release of POE2. The open beta, however, could drop at the end of summer - the question is, will it be a soft launch as well? The first few years of POE1 were basically a perma-beta, and it wouldn't surprise me if they used the same model with POE2, albeit on a shorter timeframe.
I hope a much shorter timeframe if they do take that approach, which I suspect they will. We put up with buggy leagues, we'll put up with beta software as a full release :D
