why not when twitter was bought and changed their rules about "free speech"?

You did good, Flux.
I respect your decision on this, if you believe using the platform would go against your beliefs and principles then you should quit it. However i am concerned about the repercussions this will have on the future of the site. Despite the changes since Elon took over Twitter still is a giant social media site, and leaving it might affect the already (seemingly) frail life of Out of Games. Concerns have been raised by me and others about the userbase of this site and abandoning Twitter seems more harmful than good. Plus you risk dividing your audience and alienating people who may find Jones to their liking.
Alex Jones to me never seemed that "evil", more like a clown and meme material. I suppose his show isn't shown in my country so i can't speak too much on the subject, the impact it has good or bad, but i personally am indifferent with his return.
We don't get much traffic from Twitter. We've primarily been losing following, very rarely gain a follower, and as far as link clicks go? Dozens over a week.
Regarding people that like Jones, I'd rather them not be a part of our community. How anyone can like someone who terrorizes the parents of kids who were murdered in a school shooting is beyond my comprehension.
I agree, this statement is making Alex Jones look way more important than he actually is. I know the guy from a few clips in which he said some things I agreed with and some I disagreed with. But do I care about his persona? Of course not. I, for one, think it is the correct move of Musk to have freedom of speech on his platform and censorship should only be used in the most dire situations, as the covid censorships have shown it can do tremendous harm. So yes, I'd rather have someone telling an occasional lie, than censoring vital information to the public. Just let the debate decide what's right and wrong.
I believe you are making a mistake by delving into politics. Instead of seeking virtual virtue points and alienating half your audience, it would have been better to quietly cease using Twitter. While I'm not a fan of Alex Jones, leaving a platform due to potential offense seems absurd. I visited this website to escape and enjoy videogame news, but it appears that the intrusion of politics knows no bounds.

This isn't political, this is common sense. Don't support people who terrorize parents of murdered kids. Don't support people who give shitty people shitty platforms. Just because Jones leans into the far right asshole portion of the political spectrum means nothing to me - unless everyone who leans there is just as batshit crazy, then I suppose yes, this is political.
Quietly leaving would be a disservice to the people who still expect updates to be posted. It's better to tell them what other platforms are available.
I think Alex Jones' return is likely not the sole reason, rather the straw that broke the camel's back. (edit: the "I regret not pulling the plug sooner" quote confirms this)
Regarding other platforms, it might be prudent for them to discontinue their use of Facebook, given that its algorithms have been implicated in facilitating the distribution of child pornography and the coordination of meetings among pedophiles. I do not think Out of Cards' principles should be associated with a platform that lacks oversight like Facebook.

There are problems with every social media site. Facebook just so happens to not let certifiably bad people back onto their platform. Facebook also has actual humans that moderate. Twitter let go of a chunk of their moderation staff when Elon took over.
Facebook is literally littered with bots, ads and clickbait. I don;'t expect to find actual people there.
I once thought he was acting out some ridiculous performance art-level nonsense, to show people how much some are willing to eat up...but nope: that man is just straight evil.
