OpenRCT2 v0.4.26 Is Out - Simulate Feature on Block-Sectioned Rides, Ride Search Bar, and Increased Support on Go-Karts

Published 3 months ago by (Updated 3 months ago)

OpenRCT2 version v.0.4.26 is out with a huge list of bug fixes and some new updates.

One of the most exciting new features is the search bar in your ride list menu in your parks. Here I have my Six Flags Over Texas save that I completed in the original RCT2, which OpenRCT2 can read the directory of.

It has a boat load of rides. In the rides list menu, all the rides are sorted in alphabetical order, but if that isn't good enough because your park is absolutely massive, you can now type a ride name into the search bar above. Just typing in "b" has narrowed the rides in the ride list from 43 rides to 5.

Earlier this year, OpenRCT2 added turns of other sizes to the Go-Karts (in the original game, it only has access to the tiny one-tile turns), and the ability to build inclines on those turns. However, because the ride's maximum support limit was unchanged, you couldn't build the large sloped turns on flat ground because the game requires you build two of them in a row, which the ride's original support limit didn't allow. This update increases the ride's maximum support limit to allow this to be possible.

Previously, rides with block-sectioned operating modes also couldn't use the simulate function that OpenRCT2 added. The option was there, but no ghost train ever spawned. Now, a single ghost train will spawn on the track for rides operating in block-sectioned operating modes.

This September people are literally crawling back to school. Don't worry, we've got something to cheer you up: another OpenRCT2 release!

This one is dominated by rendering fixes but we managed to squeeze in a few of stability fixes and some features.

A big ticket change is we now use Zstandard compression algorithm which should result in both faster load/save times and smaller park files! Read more about it, including how to recompress your parks, on our blog: https://openrct2.io/blog/2025/08/behind-scenes-0-4-26

Here is the complete changelog:

  • If you go to our guides page, specifically on the last page, you'll also see that I'm in the process of writing a lot of guides for the game. One for every ride, and later one for every park, and several gameplay guides. There will be a lot more of these guides and these update articles to come, so I hope you guys are excited.
