What a year! On behalf of the entire team here at Out of Games, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday season.
What's Been Going On
We have been rolling out a steady stream of smaller updates since we redid the main parts of the website. Hearthstone is getting the next big package of updates along with a second version of our new guides system to smooth out some of the rough spots and squash out some bugs that everyone has found. Realistically, the entire website being converted over to our new website is still going to take some time, content doesn't write itself so splitting duties between programming and a flow of frontpage content is a fun balance to create.
I am quite happy with the new site though and our newfound performance. We're also now hosting the website on hardware we fully own instead of leasing, which reduces our overall operational costs. The journey has been a long one, but we're building a steady foundation for the many, many years that Out of Games will be around.
Snowpocalypse: Soon (TM)
Our new version of the website doesn't support events... yet! Work has been underway during the last couple of weeks to build a new event system to support the future of the website and we'll be getting our winter fun on in January 2026. In future years, we'll start the winter event in January as usual.
As you can imagine, the events system is so tightly integrated into so many aspects of the website that this is no trivial task. Snowflakes won't be going away either, so don't worry about any currency you have leftover from previous events. This update will also bring a new and improved scavenger hunt system, that won't require events to run, allowing us to add new scavenger hunts for any reason. I know how much people loved our scavenger hunts and we'll be bringing them to you more often.
Thank you everyone for being a part of our community. I expect we'll be reopening site registrations sometime in the new year we get out more improvements to anti-spam. I can't wait to see more friendly faces around the website once we do.
