There are better decks than Combo Priest ...

This is how I got to rank 5 this month (why this late? I've mostly been playing Eternal this month, not Hearthstone.) Aggro warrior took me from Rank 9 to Rank 5 with 14 wins and 3 losses.

Oh, and I also have a recording of what may be the best possible start for this deck (I ended turn 3 with a 3/3, a 9/5, and a 9/2 on the board, with opponent at 12 health): https://hsreplay.net/replay/g3iCTuvc5qQRv4s2CrVe83

  • Aggro warrior is certainly competitive. Is it fun to play?

Thinking about crafting the 4x uldum warrior legendaries I would need for the deck. I don't have grom, but I hear he's a bit of a flex spot and would probably use Captain Greenskin Card Image instead.

  • Thanks mate, will probably give it a go!

  • Aggro Warrior is strong and the fastest deck at the moment! Usually the games are not longer than 5 minutes - because you've either won by that time or simply concede because you do not get through anymore ;)

So if you want a good and fast deck to climb Aggro Warrior should do the trick! But like i said , if you're not able to kill the opponent fast enough you run out of steam pretty fast!

  • While there are OTHER competitive decks than Combo Priest, suggesting that Aggro Warrior is *better* than Combo Priest is, in my opinion, entirely incorrect.

  • I climbed to R5 and above with aggro warrior before the last edition.  It´s a good deck.  Well my homebrew paladin is slaying combo priest and quest druid but barely holds 50% on ladder so better is in the eye of the beholder :-).

  • Pfft, 12 health on turn 3? You gotta pump up those numbers, Combo Priest can drop it to 0 by that time with a 24/24 on board.

I'll accept that criticism. It's probably more fragile than Combo Priest, but it has better openers for sure. Aggro warrior probably is more susceptible to fizzling out though.

Honestly though, the archetype has not even come close to being refined yet because it isn't getting a lot of play. I think it's potential is VERY close to combo priest, if it gets some people refining it to optimal status.

Edit: If you take a look at Vicious Syndicate Data Reaper report, they have Aggro Warrior just barely below Combo Priest; the playrate of combo priest is dropping; the playrate of Aggro Warrior is rising. Take all of that as you will. https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-142/

      • Aggro warrior is a good deck but it's definitely not close to better than priest.  It does have some very strong early highrolls but like priest it also has bad hands that don't do much at times.

Priest is the top deck, VS might have slightly better winrate for warrior because this is a meta centered around priest and warrior is one of the few decks that can beat priest.  People build their decks and pick the decks they play with priest in mind first.  If the meta was built around countering aggro warrior then warrior would have a much lower winrate than priest currently does because it's much easier to beat.

Also aggro warrior is generally refined.  I'm not sure you can change it too much.  It's starting to get a lot of play now and people will start to mulligan for warriors with aggro in mind more often.
