Everybody chill out about Brode's comment

The idea of having a diverse and changing standard meta is something we all want. Thats all Brode was saying. Hes not saying azure drake or auctioneer is gonna go, nor even hinting at it. He's simply saying the significance of the classic set seems to be a bit high at the moment which has a negative affect on the standard meta.

One of the options is obviously moving classic cards into wild. However its pretty unlikely they'll go that far. They are more likely to nerf a few cancerous cards (fingers crossed for rag) which still gives players the opportunity to use them while also providing the opportunity to get their dust back.

Overall, i think its a bad idea to nitpick every official statement and consider "worst case scenarios." We generally want the devs to feel comfortable sharing their ideas and thoughts on how to make the game better.

EDIT: Sorry about the rag comment. Obviously hes not objectively OP. However I do think he fairs well in almost any archetype and could be considered the best non-pala 8 drop in the game. I just hate the card and was under the impression most other people do too. Main point of the post is that we shouldnt get worked up about dev comments.

None of my comments are meant to be in relation to a meta at a given time. We are talking about the meta over the course of years, and whether people would rather still be losing to Druid Combo in 2023 in Standard. We made changes in 2016 to help Standard get off on the right foot. I've just reiterated that we may continue to need to make changes so that Standard can be successful at feeling fresh each rotation.
