Hey all. People can be super jerks on the internet. I think we can all agree on that. But, sometimes it's bad. ...REALLY bad. I get tagged a lot in hate speech posts that are relevant to the game we all love. Here's the thing: 1/4

I'm sorry. I'm sorry anyone would ever have to deal with reading some of the things I've seen. I'm not going to comment right now on how we deal with that. BUT...I want you to know that when I read some things like I was tagged in today I make sure to message the player. 2/4

I let them know that they're valued. That people CARE, and remind them of how great our community can be and how we rallied together to show support. That may not seem like a lot to some of you, but it really is. "Work/Business" isn't all emails/reports. 3/4

To me, it's important to #1 handle the human side of this and make sure people are okay first. So when you see some hate towards another player, please remember that a private kind message can do more than an RT. An RT is just pushing a button. I encourage going the extra step 💙

@alkali_layke sorry we all ping you, but I think the frustration is that there is no real easy outlet to report here. Also we apricate that YOU care. :)

@jcandance As a player I also strongly suggest "remove friend" before things get so far. Protect yourself too. I see some conversations carry on far too long when the option to end the conversation was there all along.

@alkali_layke @jcandance This is victim blaming.

@CinderAscendant @jcandance No. It is not. If you see it that way it's not my intention. If you read my whole post you should know that. That person did nothing wrong. I'm just stating that in the heat of things it's easy to forget to just end the connection. Encouraging protecting yourself isn't wrong.

@alkali_layke @jcandance Respectfully, I did read the thread. I was gobsmacked when I got to this comment. "You should have done more to stop them" is textbook victim blaming. I understand that you're reminding people they have tools but that assumes that being attacked is a given. We can do better.

@CinderAscendant @jcandance Do you also feel that slamming be publicly helps the situation? Curious. Also I did not make that "". Please DM me if you wish to carry this conversation further. It's not helpful here in this way.

@CinderAscendant @alkali_layke @jcandance Nah, it's self preservation. If somebody is being verbally abused it's not victim blaming to advise them to remove themselves from the situation if they have the power to do so. It's not their fault that they were in the situation.
