      @jkimballcook My firm used to make us use "Very truly yours," and had a 100% success rate at being weird and uncomfortable. The associates even tried to revolt by switching it to "Sincerely" and one of the partners had a whole meeting about why we couldn't do that.

        @hsdecktech @jkimballcook My first (pre-law school) boss told that when a lawyer sent you a friendly letter they said sincerely or similar, but when being either formal or mildly threatening they said very truly yours. 20 years of practice later I find that pretty accurate.

          @CharlesJeanfre3 @jkimballcook Explains why opposing counsel was pretty much always mad at us before our cases even started. Either that or, you know, that’s just Plaintiff-side litigation default.
