Help me Twitter. I'm thinking I wan't to replace my current dining room light with this moody beaded one. Also not done painting the walls bright white yet. Yes? No? https://t.co/d7OGvaw0n4

@alkali_layke I wonder how much the light is diffused by the bead strings? 🧐 It looks good though.
      • Alkali Layke

        Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@TroyLedgerwood Not much but the room doesn't need it. We almost never turn on that light because the room is so bright.

@alkali_layke that room is super cute and i honestly really like the light you have 😳 both are nice though!

@nicholena_moon @alkali_layke Hmmm might be too much given the size of the beading. I like the simpler look of your current fixture, unfortunately might be a better decider once the room is painted?

@SickFNasty @nicholena_moon The one we have is in pretty much every pre-built home. It's standard and I hate it. It's one of the first lights you see in the home depot aisle. Nothing wrong with that... but I like different.

@alkali_layke You might need a lighter scheme overall, but it would definitely work. If you’re not up for replacing the table, you could use a lighter tablecloth maybe?
      • Alkali Layke

        Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@blisterguy The bottom of this table is going white and the wood is being restained with black wood stain. Just need to wait until summer.

@alkali_layke I love how the whole room is straight black lines (window sills, baseboards, shelves, etc.) It looks clean and modern. The round beads just don't fit the same imo

          Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@JennVanDamsel All the more reason to soften the lines! I leaning towards yes!

@alkali_layke I like the statement piece! It's really hard to tell the scale here, but the only thing I'd keep in mind is the balance between the circumferences of the table vs the fixture. I have this instinct you might want the fixture to be a fairly small fraction of the table.
      • Alkali Layke

        Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@RegisKillbin Table is 48" and widest (top) of the fixture is 24" going down to a much smaller circumference and the bottom. I think (??) It'll be ok?
        • RegisKillbin

          Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@alkali_layke Oh yeah, that seems good. I was worried it was like 70% or something. Half at the top means probably 25% at the bottom, that sounds great!

@RegisKillbin I'll do more of a flush mount too... so less hang

@alkali_layke *To me* it looks a little heavy and bulky for the room and that it might make the headspace look crowded, but I'm also sure that the bright white walls would lighten that up a lot. I'm a very bright-and-open aesthetic kinda person though! It could look totally amazing 🤷‍♀️
      • Alkali Layke

        Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@glitch_vicky The room is massive. (Those beams are going black and cabinets are going to black shelves) so I think the bulky is ok (??) https://t.co/61QpZh1Jop

@alkali_layke Omg your house is so pretty! Okay with the whole picture of the high ceilings beside it youre right, there's not much of a crowding problem 😅

@glitch_vicky Thank you! It's was very "rustic country cabin" when we bought it but I've been who working hard to modernize it. It's going to take a few years.

@JennVanDamsel Talking home decor is fun! Most of my house is iron and bulb and I'm keeping some but probably replacing most. Like this one... it'll go too https://t.co/nV53cn0BdI

@PapaJasonHS So with you on that! But that's an expensive change and I we're taking it one step at a time. :) it's such a beautiful set that I bought for the pedestal base and I'm going to redo it. It's going white on the base and black wood stain

@alkali_layke Ok I'm invested. Was reading your comments and you wanted to add more fluidity to the space. You can arrange the bulbs how you like and it'll keep your bulb aesthetic while also adding some texture to the space https://t.co/Fe48lGI2jw
      • Alkali Layke

        Posted 4 years ago (Source)
@_mermaidkween I saw that one but I really didn't like all the attachment points on the ceiling. From under it you would see a collection of polka dots on the ceiling. Really I'm trying to bring in "texture". That's why I have so much macrame and plants. Black and white can be a bit sterile. https://t.co/p9iSsGpKhM
