When working with Content Creators there are times when "evergreen content" like YouTube is more effective & essential for our strategies. Twitch streams and Twitter feeds disappear too quickly for *some* of our needs. Please consider diversifying your content. Cutecat for bump. https://t.co/805gibQ5QP

Other way to say this: I WANT TO WORK WITH MORE OF YOU BUT YOU MAKE IT TOUGH!

@alkali_layke I really wish there was a better way to monetize just plain-ol' blog posts. Like, if I need to beat Heroic Onyxia and I find a good YouTube video, I'd love it if YouTube said "Hey, after you watch the ads, we'll let you see a transcript instead of watching the vid if you want."

@shoutingboy But then the creator would not get "watchtime" and not get paid. So that does not work. I firmly believe that blogging can be profitable. There r tons of vids on yt about it & at one point I considered it myself. It's the same secret formula for all content creation: consistency

Should note: before I hear the "but...but...what abouts", of course there are times when Twitter and Twitch work great. We try to place those opportunities with creators who do not have yt as much as poss. Just take a small note is all. :) More opportunites 4 diverse content

@alkali_layke What evergreen content do you feel like is doing well in HS?

Posted 3 years, 9 months ago (Source)
@jrhsk8 This post is less about the "what" and more about the "how long will this content be visible to players globally". It's much easier for someone in a timezone 10+hrs outside of a post to find the yt content than it is to dig through an old twitch vod. Just is.

@jrhsk8 And "evergreen" does not refer to type of video style here. Evergreen refers to a medium. Mediums can be considered evergreen as well.

@alkali_layke I have a question about what you look for in YT posts. Would it be beneficial for some one upload a whole stream or cut it up into specific games?
        • Alkali Layke

Posted 3 years, 9 months ago (Source)
@xanderinvictus It's much better to focus on specific games. 1-2 games for Standard/Wild/Class, Runs (or highlights of) for Duels/Arena, and ONE BG game. This is because a avg standard/wild/class game is short and the other formats are long. Some streamers have VOD channels specifically

@alkali_layke Sorry for the follow-up question, but I want to be prepared. When we post BG games, should we focus on just top games so as not to inundate YT with every game?

@xanderinvictus The best thing to do is actually to not take my advice here, but to follow great BG channels on youtube and see what works for those channels. I'm not the best expert...they are! Just a few: @G2Rdu @Slysssa @ItsBen321 @Kripparrian @bofur_hs @ixxdeee @nicholena_moon @dogdog

@alkali_layke I hear this a lot but I rarely hear about how one should go about managing it. I think everyone would like to be on every platform if they could, I dont think its a matter of people not knowing that its better to diversify but rather not knowing how to do it without burning out

@HS_Orange This answer may not be ehat you want to hear, but it's the "correct" one. You build it into your content calendar. Make a "work week" and stick to it. 20hrs? 30? 40? You set your work time rules but you BUILD IT IN. They say if you can do something for 21days it becomes habit

@alkali_layke @HS_Orange I think the challenge many people have is that YT time is a revenue loss until it grows, and many folks are just scraping by. So losing 10-20 hours of streaming hours pushes them below the "staying in business" revenue threshold.

@alkali_layke @HS_Orange I was very lucky to have approached this from the other side. I grew my YouTube channel for 4 years while working full time to remove that pressure. People probably don't realize I only quit my real job in 2020, after years of doing YT/Twitch.

@RegisKillbin @HS_Orange I think other streamers should also take note that you don't try to pull 8 hr streams. That type of schedule + yt is unsustainable

@RegisKillbin @HS_Orange Agreed. It's very hard to push through that tough no/ low income period

@alkali_layke Echoing some comments. YT takes tons of time and isn't the only type of evergreen content despite it's likely the best medium. We encourage all of our team members to write articles for the team site, make appearances on podcasts and grow on as many platforms as possible.

@HypeHorizen Agreed! I couldn't possibly list everything in that tweet unless I chose to make a big thread. The point of it was more that certain mediums are great for certain things...especially when it comes to particular opportunities.
