Hot (?) take: it’s unreasonable/unrealistic to complain about patches before a tournament. It affects every other player as much as you, and do you really think the devs should care when we’re getting <5k viewers every tournament?

@DeadDrawHS I never really minded it when i competed but i understand why some people would be upset. Also i understand that it's not their priority to schedule their content around masters tours.

@FenoHS @DeadDrawHS (Not involved in either card launches or esports.) It seems to me that if you want deckbuilding skill to be involved in tournament success, and especially if you think that's something you're good at, then you should *want* patches a moderate time before a tournament.

@Celestalon @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS a week would be cool. less than five days seems really hard on the players and basically makes it impossible to prep for the mt while having a day job

@RidiculousHat @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS Obviously day-before is a problem. But you want enough time that you can use your skill to gain an advantage over others, and not so much time that everyone can figure it out and saturate the meta.

@RidiculousHat @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS This was a week of warning, with 4 days of testing. Given that patches happen on mondays or tuesdays, and esports tends to happen on fridays, there aren't a lot of choices here. Do you want 4 days of testing, or 11 days of testing?

@Celestalon @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS thurs patches aren't the most crazy thing and already happen at least three times a year. i know it won't happen but those would be my preference for a solid 7ish day window

@RidiculousHat @Celestalon @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS isn't that enough for vs to gather preliminary findings?

@NopsHs @Celestalon @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS that's a question for the zach, not me, but there are preliminary stats right now on both hsr and vs live. and i would bet that a week from now we still have new stuff to talk about either way

@RidiculousHat @NopsHs @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS I vaguely recall that the last time this topic came up, someone popular ran a poll of what timespan before a tournament did pros want changes. I think the TLDR of the results was "More than 3, less than 10 days, anything in there is fine", or something like that?

@Celestalon @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS as a frequent mt participant, i'm a big fan of patches a couple days before tournaments, but i'd like a heads up that a patch will hit. doesn't have to be anything about what the content will be, but it feels bad to grind a ton prepatch and have to throw some of that work away.

@NailsOU @FenoHS @DeadDrawHS Isn't this exactly what you got this time?

@Celestalon @DeadDrawHS Deck building already matters quite a bit even without a new patch. i feel it's more about who can adapt quicker/get a good understanding without having loads of data to rely on, which i personally love.

@FenoHS @DeadDrawHS Sure, I supposed 'deckbuilding skill' is over-simplifying it. I think you know what I mean though, of just generally being able to adapt to changes faster and find the edges over your competition.
