My dog has recently taken on a trick of violently opposing taking his pills. Bribery (peanut butter), hiding it in food, and even just forcing it in his mouth and massaging it down his throat now all fail. Anyone here use this pill pouch things, do those work? Any other tricks?

@hsdecktech if you can, i ususally just crush the pill up into some wet food

@TitoSantanaHS I think that would result in just not eating the food, and then we have two problems. I tried cutting it into small pieces in the food and he ate around it. :(

@hsdecktech If you can try to get a small amount of water in their mouth, that can stimulate them to swallow.

@jerakal He’s currently taken to just clamping his mouth shut and not letting me do anything.

@hsdecktech Greenies pill pockets worked for a while, and when it didn’t eventually tried a Costco brand that work well when dipped in peanut butter. Just also note that my dog became picky about brand of peanut butter. That’s a thing.

@hsdecktech I'm assuming you've tried the trick where you just hold their head up while the treat is in their mouth and it forces them to swallow it?

@kilmarnok1285 Yeah, did an even harder version of that for a while. Worked up until last night when he apparently decided enough was enough.

@hsdecktech My dogs like to eat the pouches and spit out the meds. 🤷‍♂️

@BitBeaker I very much expect this to happen with my guy.

@hsdecktech For our cats, we have to force it in and then blow on their face to get them to swallow. Not sure if it works for dogs.
