I don't know who might need to hear this, but mental healthcare isn't a competition. Just because other folks have it worse than you doesn't make you unworthy of help.

I've struggled with mental health for years but I've always been juuust shy of meeting the diagnostic criteria for anxiety/depression. I felt like I wasn't "bad enough" to need help, so I avoided counseling for longer than I should have.

I finally went to counseling during my masters and realized that I don't need a test to tell me I need help. I don't need to be worse than other people to "justify" needing help. If I need help, I need help, and that's ok.

You don't have to wait for a crisis or till you reach your breaking point. It's ok to ask for help before you desperately need it. You don't have to wait till you're "bad enough."
