(1/3?) I saw a few comments about Grand Magister Rommath getting a Diamond card, "mage again", and wanted to add some context/clarification. Most expansions have 2 or sometimes 3 Diamond cards. This time, there are 5.

(2/3?) When picking cards to diamondize, class distribution is important, as well as the excitement for the character, how suitable the art is for it, and other factors.

(3/4?) In this case, we planned to diamondize the entire canon Blood Elf council: Halduron, Rommath, Lor'themar, Liadrin, plus one of the the Death Knight cards.

(4/?) However, things don't always go as planned; not every art piece is well-suited for being diamondized. That turned out to be the case with Halduron's art; a beautiful piece, but it posed problems for diamondizing.

(5/?) So, we looked for suitable alternatives, and ended up swapping Haldruon for a second Death Knight card. It's the launch of DK, people are going to be excited about it, and another of theirs was a known character that was well-suited to it.

(6/6) So yes, Rommath is "another Mage Diamond", but class distribution is still important to us, and there's also a Paladin, Neutral, and two Death Knight Diamonds.

@Celestalon Are the two Death Knight diamonds just the 2 legendaries from MOTLK or are they also from their core set/path of arthas set? I know we’ve got Lady Deathwhisper confirmed as a diamond, does that one count as one of the 5 diamonds from this set?

@BionicDoor Yeah, I should say that there are 5 coming with the expansion, not specifically in the MotLK cardset. The two DK ones are from Core and Path of Arthas.

@Qatrium Hey, I tried. 🤣 I was... optimistic about how many tweets it would take to say what I wanted to say. :)

(7/6) Thought of more relevant info to share. We also have to decide on which cards to make Diamond and Signature art for, early enough in the process, to have time for that to happen in time. And a lot can still change in that time when it comes to card design.

(8/9) For example, there is at least 1 Signature card for every class. But there is also one card that was in DK when we picked it for Signature, and moved to Neutral. And one that was in Neutral, and moved to... you guessed it, Mage.

(9/9) I know, I know, I can hear the "Devs love Mages!" cries from here. But it wasn't that way when we picked it to Signature! It wasn't intended that Mages got 2 Signatures, it's just the result of simultaneous processes that both take time. (The extra one is free, from event.)

@Celestalon correct me if i'm wrong but now we could get a diamond copy of a card, then find it's signature version and essentially be stuck with a duplicate since they are both uncraftable, or is duplicate protection enabled for such scenario or maybe the possibilty to reroll the signature?

@Celestalon Really? BLIZZARD couldn’t just order another art of Halduron which wouldn’t have a problems with diamondizing ?

@NWarrior97 Good art takes time to make, and there are many steps in the process that all are dependent on the previous step. Cost was never the issue here, time was. The game development process is rarely that easy.

@Celestalon not to hijack your post but, are you guys going to do anything about your mess-up on the Mercs Rattlegore event besides changing the blog posts and one Dev tweeting out "oops our bad"?

@Celestalon Any Plans to Diamondize some older popular legendaries? Emperor Thaurissan, Brann, Yogg, The Lich King all stand out as good contenders!

@DanielJohnRowe Yep, still planning to do more of that over time!
