Still can't believe the Chrome team decided to overload the enter button as "accept autocomplete" If I type in a url and hit enter you should take me to what I typed, not decide to swap to an autocomplete suggestion that popped up as I was hitting enter.

There is no way to blindly type something into chrome and go to the website. You must stop after typing and inspect the 'awesome bar' to see if an autocorrection has appeared or not, and if so, you have to press multiple keys to undo it. Just horrible UX.

@DevSpacePrez Counterpoint: It's the right thing 99% of the time, so is good UX.

@DevSpacePrez I'd rather have to press 1 additional key (backspace) 1% of the time, than 1 additional key (downarrow or something) 99% of the time.

@Celestalon Problem is for me its the same, but I end up hitting backspace 99% of the time and up arrow 1%. If only this was a toggle in the settings :P

@Celestalon Surprised it works so well for you, it ALWAYS guesses something wrong for me. I'll type in like "hearthstone battlegrounds heroes" and it'll autocorrect to "hearthstone" which is not useful at all!

@DevSpacePrez Do you just extensively use bookmarks, so you never type anything in that you regularly goto?

@DevSpacePrez Uhhh... Hold up. We must be talking about different things. Because the thing you just said doesn't actually exist. What did you mean?

@DevSpacePrez (or you've got some really bizarre addon or something that's replacing your address bar functionality)

@Celestalon Chrome does a thing where if you type in a bit of text and hit enter, it forwards it to a search service of your choice (google) But it also tries to autocorrect that search string based on popular search strings. Its insufferable because the suggestions are always wrong.

@DevSpacePrez Yes, but it only *adds to* what you type, it doesn't change/remove anything you typed. Your example of "hearthstone battlegrounds heroes" getting autocorrected to "hearthstone" doesn't happen.

@Celestalon Definitely 100% happens to me all the time. It may be since I've previously searched for "hearthstone" or something, but it absolutely just chops off half the search string I enter very frequently.

@DevSpacePrez If that were true, then it would interrupt your typing. How is that possible? We must be talking about different interfaces somehow.

@Celestalon After you push enter? I type "hearthstone battlegrounds heroes" and then press enter, it takes me to google, and searches for "hearthstone". So no, no interruption of typing. It waits for me to press enter, then changes the text to auto-completed text.

@DevSpacePrez What is shown before you hit enter?

@Celestalon "hearthstone battlegrounds heroes" Then I press enter, it switches to "hearthstone" and googles that.
