Wanna see something interesting? Check out some of the giveaways that have 1000+ RT, but the streamer did NOT gain 1000+ followers. It just doesn't work how people think it does. How bout this? -value your mods -reward long time subscribers OR chase empty likes. Whatevs. https://t.co/tkYHdBuOx2

@alkali_layke How can I reward Twitch subs? Isn't doing giveaways to subs only against TOS?

@lunalovepls I just did a Streamelements thing through their platform and guidelines. It was not sub only.

@alkali_layke Wait I'm confused by this. I was always told doing any kind of sub only giveaway on Twitch was a nono but some people do it anyways? I just had no idea what was allowed and what wasn't allowed.

@lunalovepls @alkali_layke yeah, sub only giveaways are illegal in many places as you cannot require a purchase in order to win a giveaway (it would be considered gambling). I doubt it's something you'd get in trouble for, in the same way that streaming with most music is illegal. Better to be safe imo.

@lulnenko @lunalovepls Nightbot and Streamelements both have what they call "subscriber luck". They're both large streaming based companies. Not sure all the details around how their company works though.

@lunalovepls But "give away" really just means giving it away. It doesn't always have to mean giant giveaway. You personally can give them away as you choose. I see creators give them away individually to smaller creators all the time. That can be anyone you value. Can chat more on dm

@lunalovepls What I look for in giving them to creators is (in general) is creators who will in turn use them to grow the community somehow. Add value. Otherwise, what's the point? What does it "DO"?

@alkali_layke The problem with these tweet giveaways is that they don't give the prize seeker the opportunity to see YOU or your content. They just drive through. I give codes away on streams and people are required to have fun with me all day. Gives me a chance to build a connection.

@RegisKillbin @alkali_layke That's so pervasive that I've seen non-English creators who don't have a giveaway basically steal the format of the giveaway tweets but say, in their own language, that they don't have a giveaway and people will spam follow, like and retweet their stuff that's how hollow it is

@adam_noodelman @RegisKillbin @alkali_layke Or there are tweets like this where I'm 99% sure there is no winner as Jay doesn't have a bundle from Blizz, but it still gets >1k RT/Likes. https://t.co/CTZOtYPCel

@reerkat @adam_noodelman @RegisKillbin Anyone can gift. You can send gifts thru bnet. You just have to be friends with the winner. So if you're not friends already you have to wait 7days after friending then give away. I didn't get bundles from Blizz for years as a creator & this is how I did it too. Many do
