Wild is in one of the worst spots right now, and it's not 'cause any one thing is too popular or powerful. It's because no one thing is popular or powerful enough to get attention 🧵(1/11) https://t.co/zjiEt5cIIC

It's been really nice that we've been getting pretty fast solutions to the worst of Wild's offenders since around Scholomance, but the problem is that you're only available for balance if you are the worst possible offender. (2/11) https://t.co/t0lhAdtQ71

Over time a bunch of decks with play pattern problems have been accumulating as they slip under the cracks, terrible to play against but not bad enough to take over the meta... by itself. Some of these are remedied with Standard focused nerfs, but not all. (3/11) https://t.co/cCPfblEjJS

Right now when you're facing a human on ladder, it is likely they are playing a strategy where they do nothing or next to nothing for the first few turns, then kill you entirely from hand between turns 4-6. (4/11)

Aggro is less punishing for these types of decks than ever despite aggro being really strong right now because so many of the aggro players appear to be bots that play poorly, and the "slowest" of these types of decks get to run invulnerability secrets to buy time. Whenever they make changes to these types of decks Wild feels so fun again, so when we get one or two highly problematic and popular decks it doesn't feel too bad because I have confidence they'll do something when they can. (6/11) https://t.co/pYcCHTgM5r

Right now though, we're dealing with the leftovers of several metas that produced Wild play pattern problems caused by cards that aren't issues in Standard, and because it's a group and not a single deck it just doesn't feel like change is coming. (7/11)

I think Nathria proved that with just a bit of the early pressure off, Wild can actually be the fun nostalgic format where you can experiment with many of your old cards and a variety of strategies that it should be. It just needs to lower the bar for balance a little. (8/11) https://t.co/P4LL9lM6ai

I don't want Standard frequency or philosophy for balance changes in Wild, I just think that decks that reliably kill the opponent entirely from hand in the early turns or cheat out unanswerable levels of stats in the early turns should be toned down. (9/11)

With some of Wild's biggest problem cards about to become Wild exclusives, rotation would be the perfect time to finally address some of these strategies and two-card combos. (10/11) https://t.co/aLtNPJ6npR

I've been reluctant to make this tweet thread for a while because I don't think my voice goes very far and it just feels futile, but maybe if this thread spoke to you you'd consider retweeting for reach and solidarity. ❤️ (11/11)
