My daughter is in a community play and I'm stuck in a library (oh no!) every day this week after work for hours while she rehearses. What do I read?

@alkali_layke Pretty broad, but fantasy, some obscure favorites: Last Call, Tim Powers: A guy realizes he unknowingly sold his soul at a poker game to the Fisher King The Sun Sword, Michelle West: A woman in a very patriarchal society foils her husband's conspiracy with a demon to take over

@alkali_layke Sci fi: If you haven't read the Expanse, then pick up Leviathan Wakes and...just, really, read this series. Nobody turns the screw better than they do.

@huntthesnark I took that suggestion last time I did this. Very enjoyable but got to book 5 and took a break. I'll go back to it but too much space cowboy for that many pages

@LinusFlink I love that these are all series! I usually like series that are over 5 books but under 10. And of these fall into that?

@alkali_layke Rivers of London is 8, Hidden Legacy 6, Malazan 10 (but a long 10), Culture series 10 (but fairly standalone), Reality dysfunction is a trilogy and Dresden files like 20ish and going.

@alkali_layke @_badwolf87 would definitely say the Mistborn series, he's been raving about it and has reread them a few times
