HGC Patch is too far behind

Today, HGC is still playing on the latest Probius patch. The patch was released on March, 28.

Instead on catching up by playing on the highly anticipated Heroes 2.0 patch Blizzard somehow decided it would be better to play on an one month old balancing patch.

  • Heroes 2.0 was (almost?) one month on the PTR.
  • Dignitas and Fnatic already played show matches on that patch.
  • This is an online tournament. There is no jet lag. Everybody can start to train on the patch the same time.

But let's assume a one month PTR period is to little time to adapt to Heroes 2.0. Next week they are still not playing on the Heroes 2.0 patch but on the Cassia patch.

It was discussed during the latest TownHallHeroes. People not only watch HGC to see nice plays but also to improve their own Heroe league play.

I personally feel disconnected and slowly lose my interest because of this ridiculous patch policy.

    Hey all!

I'd like to open this up by saying we are planning to push the Tournament Realm to Patch 24.6 aka the last Cassia patch on Monday, May 1st and will last for the remaining weeks of HGC league play.

This current patch cycle is not something that we're looking to aim for in the future. The current cycle is what we decided on for stability and competitive integrity as the scope of Heroes 2.0 was massive and all departments on the dev team were already working their hardest to get the game out.

The state that we find ourselves in right now is a fairly unique one. We do hear your feedback on this and with Phase 2 right around the corner after the Mid-Season Brawl in June we will continue evolving our strategies around patching and anything else you all wish to weigh in on!
