Why does it take so long to queue in quick play

I joined recently, and have waited excessive times

    not sure what server/region you're on, but my normal wait time is around 130-360 seconds. It got a lot slower several patches back after they made more MM rules and updates.

    Blizz are masochists and are trying to have a queue that will not only match up equally skilled players, but also get fair comps and avoid certain heroes being paired together, etc... the more they try to massage the comps to be more "standard" or "fair" the longer the wait times are going to get. All the while everyone will still blame their MM'ing for losing and spew hatred at them.

    I would never want to be a blizzard match making programmer. Sounds like the worst job in history of programming.

    Nah, this job is awesome. Matchmaking is by far the most interesting project I've ever worked on, and there's a passionate fan base giving continuous feedback for us to incorporate. It's basically a dream.
