Checking if a rules misunderstanding or miss by system

I had a siren stormtamer + other creatures in play. My opponent played a rabid bite targeting different creature. Even though I had a blue mana open the system did not give me a chance to counter the spell. Am I misreading the rabid bite or did the program miss the opportunity to counter?

I feel kind of ridiculous for debating with a person that literally has WotC in their name,

They're people too and people make mistakes. This is one of them. The rulings entry on Stormtamer specifically addresses this issue:

"Siren Stormtamer’s activated ability can target a spell or ability that has multiple targets, as long as at least one of those targets is you or a creature you control."

I will double check, because this got me thinking. I may have been confusing the Fight mechanic (a spell or ability may instruct a creature to fight another creature ) with the Damage rules (an object that deals damage is the source of that damage).

This correct. [[Siren Stormtamer]] 's activated ability reads "Counter target spell or ability that targets you or a creature you control." You can't counter Rabid Bite with this ability because your opponent is targeting their own creature with the spell.

UPDATE: Passed this along to the QA team to check out. Apologies for any misinformation, and thank you for calling me out on it. :)
