How to play on US servers from the UK?

I want to play on the US (Americas) servers, from the UK (PS4 game). I've been able to do this with most games, and this thread here would seem to indicate that I can... But no joy:

I've gone into my blizzard account and changed my region to US but it made no difference.

I've also set up a new account on my PS4 with a US email and address, and still no joy.

I've tried changing my DNS to a US DNS, I was still on EU.

I even opened a ticket with Blizzard about this a while ago, and they were no help.

Please advise? I've googled this to death without success.

Many thanks for the reply. Aww, disappointing to hear. So there is no way to 'force' it to connect to a US server, if I want to play with North America (This is my go-to when gaming, and most of my gaming friends are in N.A.)? Obviously I'd change it back if my ping was awful.

You can play with people from North America no problem! Form a party with them and queue together, the matchmaker will try to find a server with the best overall ping for your group.

For console players you're able to play with anyone on your same platform.

    Hopefully that makes sense, cheers!

For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players Overwatch is one global region. You're automatically placed on to servers where you have the best ping.
