EA Launches 25 Classic Games on Steam and GoG, Original Theme Hospital, Road Rash, Wing Commander, and More!

You know how we just got wind of Anniversary Editions of Road Rash and Wing Commander being added to the GoG library in the first-ever GoG showcase?

Turns out that GoG isn't the only platform getting those classics. Steam is getting them too. In fact, they're getting a massive 25 games added.

Road Rash

The original Road Rash, with the original OST perfectly intact and the original FMVs digitally remastered. Now with enhanced framerate and controller support.

Wing Commander

Not just one game, but ten of them! All of the original Wing Commander games, plus the Strike Commander and Privateer sequel spinoff games are all available, complete with something EA refers to as the "WCAT Patch", giving the games the ability to enable cheats and have some gameplay options you can tweak.

Theme Hospital

You're probably well aware that I love business simulation games on this era. I love RollerCoaster Tycoon, I love Railroad Tycoon, I love OpenTTD, I love the old SimCity games. Theme Hospital is another very beloved game on the list of beloved tycoon games from this era... and one that I've actually never played before.

There wasn't a very convenient way to play it for a very long time. Two Point Hospital or Project Hospital was basically the only convenient way to play something remotely resembling it for a long time. Until now! It's the original hilarious hospital management game from 1997, available on Steam.

Yet another glimmer of hope that we might someday get the original Zoo Tycoon from 2001 and both of its DLC packs on Steam. Please, make it happen!

Ultima

All eleven Ultima games! From the humble beginnings of Ultima 1 from 1981 to the 3D world of Ultima IX from 1999, and the two Underworld games. Enjoy one of the oldest RPG series in video game history, and provided inspiration for many more RPG games to come.

Crusader

Their final treat are Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret. You are an uncorruptable agent, but the people you work for are corrupt themselves. What do you do about that? Defect and join sides with the pack you're supposed to be hunting down, while you go off and defeat your own former allies in these two isometric action games.

There's no bundle to buy all 25 games at once, but the Wing Commander and Ultima games have their own bundle to buy all of the games from their series.

For a limited time, you can get an even better price. All 25 games are available at a discounted price until November 19 on both Steam and GoG.

Quote From Games Press

Today, EA has announced the restoration of seven iconic PC games, launching Anniversary Editions of Road Rash™ and six titles in the Wing Commander™ franchise. These Anniversary Editions are accompanied by the re-release of 18 other classic titles on Steam for the first time, including historic RPGs from the Ultima™ franchise, Crusader™, Theme Hospital™ and more.

In total 25 beloved games are coming to Steam and the full list of titles can be found below. Watch the launch trailer here. Download assets for the collection here.

Each Anniversary Edition preserves the original look, feel and creative intent of the game, with quality-of-life updates to support modern systems, controls, improve performance and make the titles more approachable without compromising their authenticity.

The Anniversary Editions have been a labor of love, inspired by the discovery of a physical media vault containing thousands of Betacam, VHS, and D1 tapes alongside other media assets. The digitization process recovered the supposedly lost Master FMV sequences for these seven legendary titles, which were meticulously re-edited to restore the over 1,500 cinematic scenes across these games. This reflects EA’s commitment to renewing influential titles for longtime fans while helping new audiences discover the games that helped shape PC gaming.

For each restored Wing Commander title, these improvements were made possible by the dedicated community, who were open and eager to collaborate with the passionate team at EA to incorporate their mods into the official releases. This launch is a celebration of the community’s commitment to the franchise, which is why anyone who already owns a digital copy of the Wing Commander titles on GOG or the EA App will automatically receive the Anniversary Edition upgrade for free on their respective digital platform.

The Anniversary Editions of Road Rash and Wing Commander are available now for $9.99 SRP each, with all other classic titles available for $4.99 SRP each. The full collection will be available across Steam, GOG, and the EA App, with special pricing on Steam and GOG from Nov. 5 - 19.
