Duels of Runeterra has announced a new tournament series, Road to Shurima. The first events will be this weekend for both NA and EU open to anyone who signs up. Future events will follow, culminating in a big invitational tournament based on previous winners.

When is It?

The first event is this weekend, January 30th - 31st. Day 1 will have 6-8 Swiss Rounds (depending on entrants); Day 2 will have 2 Swiss Rounds and Top Cut/Playoffs. Both days will start at 10 am CEST for EU and 10 am PDT for NA.

If this weekend doesn't work for you: this is only the first in a series of tournaments; the next is scheduled for February 13th-14th with another 2 weeks after that. You can follow Duels of Runeterra on Twitter for future details.

What is the Format?

Matches will be Best of 3 in a "Bring 3, Ban 1" format. Your decks can overlapped regions, but not cards -- e.g., you can bring multiple Demacia decks but The Grand Plaza can only be in one of them. It will also be open decklist, meaning you can lookup what your opponent is playing via a shared spreadsheet. 

Prizes

There is a $250 prize pool for both NA and EU regions:

  • 1st place will be awarded $100 
  • 2nd place will be awarded $50
  • 3rd & 4th will be awarded $25/ea
  • 5th-8th will be awarded $12.50/ea
