Blizzard Clarifies Treasures & Info on the New Kazakusan Legendary in Onyxia's Lair

Kazakusan has been revealed today, and Blizzard has clarified all 29 Treasures that you can Discover with him. Although most of them are Duels Treasures, some have been rebalanced for Standard.

It replaces your deck, and you cannot pick the same treasure twice.

Cora also clarified how Kazakusan works if the deck is empty or only contains spells:

    • Kazakusan gives you Active Treasures, while Infinite Arcane is a Signature Treasure.

      That tweet is meant to hint at the fact that you can empty your deck with Infinite Arcane and then immediately fill it with Kazakusan, all of which on curve.

      • Oh, so he meant putting Kazakusan in a duels deck and picking Infinite Arcane, not getting Infinite Arcane with Kazakusan in constructed.

  • So I see 2 highrolls only locusts and book 

    Then around 3-5 good cards depending on what you are facing 

    The rest are just merely ok cards in late game after turn 8...

    And 7-8 cards are low rolls which you don't want to get usually

    • You may want to wait and try it out before saying so ;)

      • Sure, I hope is viable. I used to enjoy HS when cards like that were usable. Now enjoy get blasted by stupid otk combo decks ;)

        • There is not a single OTK deck in the top 10 right now. Do they exist? Yes. Do they work sometimes? Yes.

          But they are not the most popular or the most powerful. There's plenty of room for long games

  • This card is super sick, don't get me wrong.

    But I kinda hate that we're at a power level where they can print a faaaaaar better Archivist Elysiana and it probably won't break the meta game.

    • Archivist Elysiana has only ever been viable because Dr. Boom, Mad Genius was broken, and the only way to win the mirrors was just this card. On its own merits elysiana has never truly been good, because it costed 8 (nerfed to 9 before reverting), had no taunt or rush, and is generally considered a tech card (against bombs, etc.)

      This card shares many of its flaws, but the reward being so good, its likely worth the risk. I can already see druid decks with this card being tier 2. You're likely right that it wont break the meta, but not mainly because of power creep, but also because fundamentally its an 8 mana card with neither rush nor taunt, and does essentially nothing the turn its played.

      • I mean, you said it yourself, it won't be amazing since it's an 8 Mana card without Rush or Taunt. That isn't a fact aside from powercreep, it's a fact because of powercreep, this card not only prevents fatigue but it also refills your deck with absurdly high value cards. If any type of grindy deck existed this would make that the most powerful deck in the game.

        But there is no deck like that, since late game in Hearthstone has moved away from value into tempo, play swing, answer swing etc. Feels like every deck is token Druid where if you can't keep up for one turn or clear the board for one turn you lose immediately.

        • Have you played classic mode?? The only deck that comes close to being as grindy as you describe is Control Warrior, and it wins by building a board you can't destroy. It is rare for decks to exist that win by simplying fatiguing their opponent out. The last time standard had a deck that won by making their opponent fatigue was Dr.Boom Warrior. Not even Barrens Control Priest would win like that.

    • It does demonstrate that the power level is trending upwards and that is concerning. On the other hand, games with fatigue as the win condition aren't the most interesting to play or watch, so forcing decks to have a quicker win condition is not a bad thing, in my opinion.

      Note that I'm talking about decks designed around fatigue as a win condition, not about cases where a match happens to go to fatigue. Those can be interesting and skill-testing, since you have to decide whether you can win in fatigue or whether you have a better chance if you make a push before then.

        They generally allow the last set/mini-set/expansion of a year's rotation have the highest power level, since it will be "in standard" for the shortest period of time. But I do agree that when power levels trend upwards, it makes me pause.  

        Note that I'm talking about decks designed around fatigue as a win condition, not about cases where a match happens to go to fatigue. Those can be interesting and skill-testing, since you have to decide whether you can win in fatigue or whether you have a better chance if you make a push before then.

        Agreed.  Reading between the lines of your statement:  Demon Seed Warlock was a mistake and effectively kills any control deck attempting to build out in this meta, fatigue between two control opponents is a skill test.  Fatigue from a warlock is a stupid win condition.

    • Here is a procedure to check if the condition on the card is fulfilled:

      1. Look at all minions in the deck

      2. Ask of each minion the following YES-NO question: "Mate, are you a dragon?"

      3. Finish when you asked all minions.

      You'd agree that if we only got YESes, then the condition is fulfilled, right? Since the other answer is NO, then getting only YESes is equivalent to not getting a single NO, right?

      Thus, if we never get a NO, we are good - the condition is fulfilled

      If the deck had no minions to begin with - we never get a NO.

      As said above, never getting a NO, is getting YES for all, which is what the card is conditioned on

          Perfect, except dragons are always masquerading as other beings and don't want to reveal themselves. It's like the opposite of that great line from Ghostbusters: "If someone asks you if you are a god ... you say YES."

          First rule of Dragon Club: If someone asks you if you are a dragon ... you say NO.
