Master Yi Arrives to Legends of Runeterra in the Upcoming "Awakening" Expansion

Riot has revealed Master Yi, the new Ionian Champion of the "Awakening" expansion! You can see him, the reveal video, and one more card that was revealed today down below.

Flow - New Vocab

The new Flow mechanic (Riot seems to be calling it Vocab) debuted in yesterday's card reveals, is also one of Master Yi's tricks.

  • A card triggers its Flow ability if you played 2+ spells or skills last round.

  • I really like this champ - and no matter the options I will go for a lock build in Demacia or Noxus to trigger his Alpha Slash multiple times.

  • Beyond the obvious synergy with Lee Sin, I think a Yi/Pantheon deck could also work. Ionia has plenty of cheap single target buffs, and sticking multiple Fated units on the board to buff with cards like Wuju Style and Sonic Wave seems like a sound gameplan.

  • It's proably a good thing that supercharge is 4 mana now so that he can't hit on turn 3 with overwhelm spellshield and quickattack...

    By the way: I am quite sure that yi is going to be the secondary champion for Lee Sin decks as both archetypes have very similar playstyles/requirements

  • I like his new makeover, the champion himself don't look that strong but if I learned anything from Irelia and Ahri it's that looks can be deceptive.

    • You’ve got to expect that it’s a 4/3 Quick Attack for 3, since a Yi deck will have no trouble triggering Flow. If the opponent can remove it, the next one will be 6/3. That is worth the price, especially with the minor cost reduction benefit.

      I'm not sure how consistently he will level up - that depends on support extra attacks or out-of-combat strikes - but if he does, he’ll be a real threat
