The second-ever ExileCon is due to start in just a handful of hours! We've compiled all the info you need on what to expect from the keynote presentation, where to watch it and what sweet loot you can get!

  • Twitch Drop #1: Raven Demon Wings (showcased in video below). Watch one hour between 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Eastern.
  • Twitch Drop #2: Heartseeker Portal (showcased in video below). Accumulate 4 hours of watch time over the weekend.

ExileCon Begins

The first drop is enabled specifically for the keynote presentation that takes place at the start of Exilecon, which means you need to accumulate 60 minutes of watch time in a 90-minute window. This may be a bit restrictive if you're in much of Europe or Asia, as the keynote presentation will be at a very late hour. Leaving your phone on, streaming the presentation on Twitch while asleep is an option!

Keynote Presentation

We can only speculate about the full extent of what will be announced at the keynote presentation, so before we get to speculating, here's what Grinding Gear Games announced during ExileCon 2019:

ExileCon 2019 Keynote Presentation Announcements:

  • Path of Exile 2
  • Path of Exile Mobile
  • Path of Exile coming to Mac OS
  • Conquerors of the Atlas, Path of Exile 1's second major end-game expansion
  • Metamorph League, the new league releasing alongside Conquerors of the Atlas

With that in mind, let's talk about what we can expect from ExileCon 2023:

ExileCon 2023:

  • More of Path of Exile 2, including announcements of for closed/open betas, an early access period or even the full release of the game.
  • More on Path of Exile Mobile, for which there's been little info since its announcement.
  • A new league for Path of Exile 1, which promises to make players to 'goblin mode', so we can only assume it's goblin-themed!
  • Some additional sneaky announcement for something no one expected (vinyl release of the soundtrack, anyone?)

If it looks to be much of the same, that's because it is! Remember, ExileCon is not BlizzCon. There's two key differences: Grinding Gear Games doesn't have several franchises whose announcements they can rotate around each year, and ExileCon doesn't take place if GGG don't have anything big to announce, unlike BlizzCon 2021.

ExileCon Events Breakdown

There's quite a few more events taking place across the weekend, and you can peruse the schedule at your will by heading to the official ExileCon page. Aside from a plethora of meet & greets, as well as interviews and gameplay showcases, here's the other events taking place on the main stage (check the official schedule to see the starting time for each event in your local time):

Day 1

  • Rendering Path of Exile 2 - a presentation on (we think) the system that was just recently patched into Path of Exile 1, that deals with rendering graphics using the GPU instead of the CPU.
  • Character Skills - a more in-depth look at new skills coming to Path of Exile 2!
  • The Bosses and Monsters of POE2 - an entire hour of looking at the things you'll be exploding for years to come.
  • Item Design and Mechanics - lifting the veil on what sort of itemization we can expect for Path of Exile 2.
  • Developer Panel: Wacky Path of Exile 1 Mechanics Q&A - Joined by Chris Wilson himself, this seems like the most fun panel of them all!

Day 2

  • Day 2 starts with three replays of some of the panels we saw during Day 1, followed by some new stuff.
  • Developer Panel: Path of Exile 2 Q&A
  • Sound Design and Music of Path of Exile 2 - hosted by Kane and Kamil!
  • Action RPG Roundtable - moderated by Kripparian, joined by lots of big names: David Brevik (Project and Design Lead on Diablo II), Max Schaefer (Project, Design and Environment Art Director on Diablo II), Erich Schaefer (Project & Design Lead, Art Director on Diablo I & II), Travis Baldree (Project Lead, Torchlight II) as well as Erik Olofsson and, of course, Chris Wilson from Grinding Gear Games.
  • Race Finals - ExileCon 2023 ends with the race finals that was announced here.
